Senior Supplier Quality Engineer

With its unique ability to measure instantaneous velocity for each pixel, long-range performance at high resolutions, while being free from LiDAR or sunlight interference, Aeva’s 4D LiDAR is built from the ground up at silicon photonics scale for mass-market applications.

Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Supplier Quality Engineer in the South East Asia and China Region to join our core Supply Chain Team. You will have total ownership of supplier quality through the entire product lifecycle, from initial sourcing through development, tooling, and industrialization as well as product launch and ongoing business management.

What you'll be doing:

• Collaborate with the Development Engineering team to establish new product and process control standards for mechanical, optical, and electrical components, and assemblies
• Develop robust control plans with Aeva’s manufacturing partners to ensure highest product quality with zero defects
• Coordinate and oversee supplier quality plan implementation at all program phases
• Implement APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) processes with suppliers from the initial design stage through PPAP submission and the start of mass production
• Conduct product and process audits, site inspections, monitor supplier quality performance, and drive root cause analysis for supplier quality issues
• Support new product launches to ensure that supplier quality meets the required standards
• Review supplier manufacturing processes, collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities
• Evaluate impacts of non-conforming products and assess suppliers' corrective action robustness in order to ensure effective permanent solutions
• Investigate supplier quality issues to determine root cause and implement corrective and preventative actions
• Establish inspection plans, design new test methodologies, and qualify precision inspection tools and gauges
• Identify and lead improvement initiatives to optimize key process indicators
• Help select suitable suppliers with the right commercial and technical capabilities to meet Aeva’s quality expectations and project timelines
• Promote and champion a culture of quality and continual improvement to build a world-class Supply Chain Organization

What you'll have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• 7+ years of work experience in a Manufacturing Operations or Quality role
• Fluent in English and Mandarin is required
• Advanced knowledge of high-volume manufacturing processes and inspection methodologies including Optical and mechanical components
• Proficient in applying AIAG core tools including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to define complex problem statements, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventative actions
• Excellent communication skills and team player with strong interpersonal skills
• Experienced in selecting and developing new suppliers and performing process audits to accepted industry standards, i.e., ISO-9001:2015, IATF-16949:2016, and VDA 6.3
• A self-starter, who is able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to new challenges in a fast-paced environment
• Ability and willingness to frequent international travel within Asia and China (approximately 30% of the time)
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Nice to haves:

• Certified ISO-9001:2015, IATF-16949:2016, or VDA 6.3 Auditor
• Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
• Working experience with Jira and Confluence is a plus
