What You’ll Be Doing

As a member of CIBC’s Security Engineering team, you’ll play a crucial role in all matters of Network Security. You’ll focus on the complexity and constantly evolving threats that put networks at risk and develop an understanding our network and how to protect us from those threats. You will help drive complete visibility and control across the entire IT environment by managing change, enforcing compliance and driving the reduction of risk.

How You’ll Succeed

  • You can demonstrate experience with implementing review of on a large enterprises’ firewall rule base. It’s an asset if you understand NIST, PCI DS & SOX standards and are able to translate those to processes that help improve and establish a baseline for the safety of a network. It’s also an asset if you have experience in working with tools like Firemon to help reduce risk, enforce compliance, and measure network & firewall security policies.
  • You act like an owner – Drive collaboration with multiple teams and can direct requirements and make the necessary adjustments to help improve the rule base across a large enterprise. You can drive the creation of a plan and help collaborate with teams to achieve the required outcome of reduction of risk, enforcing compliance and measuring networking & firewall security policies.
  • You can demonstrate experience with implementing & managing firewall rules - It will be key if you have had experience implementing rules on vendor platforms like Palo Alto, Check Point, Fortinet & Cisco. You have a deep understanding of Firewall rules i.e. understanding rule usage, how to identify redundant rules, shadowed rules, network objects, service objects, NSGs & can use SIQL queries and or RegEx patterns
  • You know that details matter – You are goal driven and can advocate for audit reviews, the importance of documentation, control testing, compliance reporting and can manage the evolving enquiry and assessment of risk required from a large enterprise with multiple regulatory bodies (PCI, OSFI, B-13, etc)

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience in NGFW architecture, network design, implementation, and troubleshooting. You have technical agility to learn and drive improvements to our network perimeter. You understand the importance of documenting design and being able to work with internal and external auditors. Previous experience working with Network Security Policy Management (NSPM) toolsets to optimize and maintain compliant security policies and reporting on key policy related KPIs
  • You have excellent interpersonal and leadership abilities. You advocate, support an improved risk posture, and have exceptional written and verbal communication skills to help achieve this. You are motivated by accomplishing your goals and delivering your best to make a difference. Teamwork is important and guide & steer you in resolving competing perspectives with reason and rational.
  • You are a certified processional. It would be nice to have certifications like CISSP, CEH or CISM which cover network security concepts, along with the experience of the top 5 venodors; Palo Alto, CheckPoint, Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet. Ideally, this role will be best suited for someone who has had hands on experience with mitigating & reducing risk, enforcing compliance and measure network & firewall security policies.
