The role of an identity and access management engineer is to design, develop, test, implement, and integrate identity and access management frameworks, systems, and protocols. The identity and access management engineer is responsible for the development and implementation of Identify and Access Management (IAM) services including SSO, RBAC, authentication and access controls ensuring confidentiality, integrity and availability of IAM systems and data.

Overall, the IAM engineer role is responsible for ensuring that procured or developed IAM systems are implemented properly and function as intended. Identity & access management engineer provides tactical support for automation and continual improvement of the identity and access, and cyber security functions. Achievement of balance between IT security concerns and compliance mandates is a primary objective of this role.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Architect, design and implement the solution
  • Establish strong engineering best practices
  • Implement solutions that adhere to industry best practices and defined security policies
  • Install, configure and customize components and associated processes and policies
  • Function as SME for Directory Services
  • Provide on-going engineering and Tier3 support of IaM service implementations while acting as an escalation point for operations team and support issues
  • Design and implement IaM services that effectively reflect business needs, service-level and availability requirements while being robust and scalable
  • Inventory current state and manage progression to future state
  • Manage day-to-day efforts toward project accomplishments
  • Design highly available and scalable solutions to meet requirements
  • Provide consulting and technical support throughout the project life cycle
  • Identify and develop Identity Governance, Role Based Access and Privileged Access Management strategies for various groups in the organization
  • Work with PMO to develop a proactive approach to handle access related issues
  • Ability to conduct research into existing and emerging security and compliance issues as required.

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification

A Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information technology, or related field is usually preferred, however applicants with a combination of relevant professional experience, education, and professional certification in CISSP, CIMP, CDP will also be considered for the position.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing technical solutions for IAM security, including authentication, single-sign-on (enterprise and web/ cloud), and access and entitlement management (including privileged access/ identity management).
  • Knowledge on working on critical, highly available production systems
  • Experience working in a dynamic and innovative Agile Environment
  • Experience with Authenticator, Duo, OKTA, RSA, AD, Azure, AWS IAM, Java, Subversion, PLSQL, JQuery, or MS SQL a plus
  • Deep knowledge of business management practices and principles.
  • Proven experience in audit of legislative and/or regulatory compliance.
  • Superlative understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
