ROLE PROFILE:

Reporting to the Head of FX Technology, this is a senior leadership position based in London. The successful candidate will define and implement the software development strategy for a set of FX Technology products and applies business requirements and knowledge of software development lifecycle to guide the development of complex software products or customer solutions.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

• Lead the EMEA based engineering teams, providing significant expertise in high-quality software design, architecture, product domain, process automation, software validation and verification testing
• Creates efficient software development processes
• Implements processes to produce code of the highest quality
• Designs, develops and delivers software solutions that align with architecture, operational and risk processes
• Works closely with the Architecture, Product and Sales teams to deliver products, services, enhancements and solutions to meet customer needs and align with the goals of the business line
• Creates highly effective and productive collaboration with other technical experts
• Acts as the go-to person for technical leadership across the organisation
• Ensures quality is built into everything we deliver as an organisation. Leadership responsibilities Lead Agile POD or small groups of developers
• Able to communicate complex issues to senior decision makers, focusing on relevant details and considerations.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

Essential Experience:

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Proven experience in Java, with at least 15 years of solid development experience preferably focusing on trading systems design and development with an exchange, multi-dealer platform or a top tier bank.
• Leading and coordinating team activities, fostering an inclusive and open culture within the team.
• Strong proficiency in modern Java and JVM technology.
• Experience in FX industry & regulated environments
• Solid grasp of multi-threading, low-latency, and concurrency concepts
• Have a good understanding of AWS or Azure cloud environment with deep understanding of choices one confronts in deployment including the network load balancing, DNS based multi-region routing/HA, proxies, cold and hot storage etc.
• In-depth understanding of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Some knowledge of cloud orchestration tools like Terraform and Helm. Good understanding of cloud native architectures.
• Confident with Linux, including shell scripting. Multi-threading & concurrency
• Experience in Agile development methodologies
• Proficient at delivering quality software
• Atlassian Jira and Confluence
• CICD tooling such as Git/Gitlab/Bamboo/BitBucket/Sonarqube
• Application Security Tools such as Veracode/Coverity/Blackduck
• Continuously adopt a pragmatic, flexible and responsive approach
• Hands on experience of automation

Preferred Experience:

• Excellent understanding of FIX protocol
• REST
• Experience of Business and Technical Analysis, Quality Assurance, Delivery Management, and / or Emerging Technology and Governance Business and sector expertise
• Experience in broader financial markets preferred
• Leadership and management experience
• Experience in technical thought leadership
