We’re recruiting for the currently open position of Financial Markets Control Officer. In this role you will lead the Non-Financial Risk Management and Conduct Risk function within the FM Front Office.

The growing complexity of the regulatory and operational landscape together with various events within the industry have led to increased regulatory attention for the overall FM control environment and robust FO Supervision and Conduct Risk controls. To enable Financial Markets (FM) to address these enhanced requirements we are seeking for a senior and hands-on Non-Financial Risk manager to lead the further enhancement of the overall FM control environment.

The FM Control Officer is responsible for the set up and maintenance of the FM control & conduct risk environment. This includes standard setting, training & awareness, control implementation and monitoring & oversight over the global FM Sales & Trading activities. In addition, the FM Chief Control Officer is the FM Risk Culture Lead and delegated chair of the Global FM Non-Financial Risk Committee.

FM Control Officer

  • Is a senior position within Financial Markets focused on non-financial risk management, FO supervision, control and conduct and maintains relationships with all senior (executive) stakeholders (e.g., Corporate Audit, Corporate Compliance, Corporate Legal and CORM).
  • Ensures that regulatory requirements and issues are adequately addressed and engages with our main Regulators (ECB, DNB, AFM, FCA, PRA etc.)
  • Leads the Global FO Supervision & Conduct Risk Office and drives the global implementation of Front Office control & conduct requirements throughout the FM Network.
  • Is a senior (hands-on) banker / risk manager with proven experience and understanding of the Financial Markets control environment including its financial and non-financial risks and infrastructure and has a track record of making sure that risks are mitigated within a complex infrastructure and regulatory environment and across the full product range.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of non-financial risk Management governance and processes and is able to translate NFR requirements into day-to-day FM practices.
  • Takes the lead in further strengthening the FM control framework and acts a trusted advisor to the Global FM MT on Non-Financial Risk matters.
  • Ensures that the FM business operates with an acceptable risk tolerance and adheres to regulatory parameters.

Your work environment

You will work in a team that consists of experienced professionals with a strong interest in financial markets and their impact on banking. You will be based in Amsterdam, but you are responsible for Financial Markets globally. Your profile

  • You are a very experienced risk manager ((Managing/Senior) Director level) with strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Thinking and operating at academic level.
  • A certified degree in internal controls and or risk management (e.g. CPA, RA, CIA) is a plus.
  • You have around 10-15 years of work experience in non-financial risk management and internal controls (preferably in a Financial Markets environment).
  • You interact comfortably with senior management as well as all relevant functions in a Wholesale Banking environment.
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills, multicultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Furthermore, you are resilient and perform well under pressure.

  • Balanced IQ/EQ, the ability to listen with an open mind, and the strength and integrity to be firm under pressure to stand up to senior management.
  • High collaborative personality, strong team player and ability to communicate effectively with both senior management and business.
  • A clear enterprise mindset, solution oriented to facilitate positive change throughout the organization.
  • An understanding of the issues relevant for Financial Markets and its global presence. Knowledge of the regulatory requirements and governance is a must. Strong analytical skills and sustainable results oriented.
