The Data and Analytics Team (D&A) at NBCUniversal is looking for a passionate data and analytics expert who’s looking to participate in NBCU’s D&A journey to the cloud. Reporting to the Principal of Data Management, the Sr Data Governance Engineer role is right for you if you would like to drive product usability and innovation in the Data Analytics space.

The D&A team is focused on data and analytics strategies for the future. We support NBCU’s vast portfolio of brands - from broadcast, cable, news, streaming service, and sports networks to film studios, world-renowned theme parks and a diverse suite of digital properties. We take pride in supplying our business groups with data to advise and shape strategic business decisions related to our content.

In the Senior Data Governance Engineer role, you’ll be working with internal stakeholders, data engineers, visualization experts, data stewards, data scientists, and other technologists across the business. Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and implement high value, reusable and reliable [meta]data governance functionalities inside our data governance tools
  • Design, configure and develop the user interface screens to display customized form and script (BPMN) workflows
  • Implement data quality workflows
  • Collaborate, support and interact closely and intensively with Data Citizens (data owners, data quality analysts, data custodians, …)
  • Identify, investigate and correct system bugs and performance issues to ensure platform user friendliness (UX) and stability
  • Coordinate implementation of data quality monitoring tools
  • Coordinate data quality stewardship with data product and business teams
  • Design and implement standards for master data and reference data
  • Implement tagging rules and policies on Cloud platforms and Cloud databases
  • Implement GDPR,CCPA and other privacy regulations on the data governance and data quality tools
  • Promote data governance and quality at design
  • Build data governance metrics and KPI dashboards
  • Engage in architecture design sessions, code reviews, and change management process for the team
  • Establish & document data governance guidelines, best practices, and standards for the team
  • Engage in evaluation & integration of other cataloging tools as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science in related discipline or equivalent
  • 3+ years overall IT experience
  • Experience in programming languages (ex: Python, JavaScript, Java, Groovy, Unix/Linux scripting)
  • Experience with Spring Boot framework
  • Experience or familiarity with at least one or more data governance tools (Collibra, Alation, Atlan etc)
  • Experience managing code in GIT Hub
  • Experience with SQL (ex. Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, etc)
  • Experience or familiarity with at least one data quality tool (AWS Deequ, Informatica, Attacama, Great Expectations etc)
  • Experience with AWS cloud configuration
  • Good exposure to agile development and testing processes.
  • Familiarity with various Data Analytics/Warehouse solutions and ETL/ELT tools
  • Strong verbal and written communications, and interaction with peers, internal and external customers at all levels
  • Excellent power point, viso, or lucid chart skills to build presentations and workflows
  • Ability to work in fast – paced environment to improve time to market adoption of new data governance and data quality technologies

  • Familiarity with Data Mesh architecture, DataZone, SAP DataSphere, Data Fabric.
