Department Overview

The London-based High Yield Debt Capital Markets Group is part of the Global Capital Markets Department and originates, structures and executes non-investment grade debt issues. The group works closely together with relationship managers (Parent Account Managers), Sector Bankers, Capital Markets & Advisory bankers, and other product specialists in the ING network advising on capital structures and funding opportunities for explicit or implied non-investment grade corporate issuers, projects, or event driven situations.

The HY DCM team is specifically geared towards funding solutions in the public capital markets but will also look at various other forms of debt financing that are distributed to the leveraged credit investor base. The non-investment grade bond product is distributed through ING's HY Syndicate desk and the FM Sales Team (often coordinated by the specialist HY sales team in London) to a global investor base.

Core Role Tasks and Responsibilities

Generate and execute on bond underwriting business for HY DCM from existing or new ING clients, whether these be corporates, private equity sponsors or other types of clients. This will include:

• Liaising with ING counterparts on new opportunities, identifying HY opportunities and educating ING counterparts on the product and current market environment

• Preparing pitches for potential clients, including the identification of relevant comps and appropriate capital structures

• General client coverage and marketing (client facing duties) the product towards ING clients, selling ING's knowledge and capabilities in the market and the product

• Structuring the transaction; Identifying the right capital structure including or excluding different forms of subordination and establishing a covenant package in accordance with market expectations for clients in the industry

• Transaction management including drafting of Offering Circular, executing business due diligence and preparing and participating in roadshows

• Overseeing and reviewing the work of more junior team members

• Taking appropriate responsibility and leadership for the preparation of all relevant transaction files

• Any ad-hoc analysis and projects as required by your Managers

Candidate Profile

Qualification/Education

Essential:
Minimum 2.1 undergraduate degree

Desirable:
CFA Level 1

Experience/Knowledge

Essential

• c 3 years + experience in a fast-paced Leveraged Finance role within capital markets and/or origination-orientated role

• Ability to simultaneously originate, structure and execute multiple situations

• Entrepreneurial self-starter with strong presentation and persuasion skills and a keen attention to detail

• European language skills (in addition to fluent English) preferable
