Formulation Scientist - mRNA Design Validation

Overview

At Inceptive, you will drive development forward that could help billions of people. To accomplish this, you will be part of a collaborative, antedisciplinary team building our biological software.

Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) currently serve as the primary delivery vehicle for mRNA-based therapeutics and are required for obtaining high-quality in vivo data. Your work will enable us to formulate mRNA designs into LNPs with the goal of enabling us to better understand and model the performance of our mRNA designs within in vivo settings. In addition, you will be responsible for maintaining detailed notes and developing standard operating procedures while ensuring high-quality data acquisition.

• Develop and implement methodologies for the formulation of mRNAs into various lipid nanoparticles using traditional and innovative methods

• Collaborate with team members from diverse backgrounds to build innovative and scalable experiments to solve complex problems that span biology and computation

Minimum Qualifications

• PhD, or Post-doctoral experience, or 4+ years of industry experience in biochemistry, drug formulation, or nanoparticles
• Expertise in the theoretical and practical formulation of lipid nanoparticles and other drug delivery modalities
• Expertise with instrumentation required for formulation (i.e. T-junction mixing, microfluidics, etc.)
• Problem-solver who is equally excited by finding creative solutions to complex problems as you are by executing them
• Ability to communicate technical and scientific concepts to team members from a broad variety of backgrounds
• Availability to accommodate working with team members across different time zones, with one or two meetings per week starting at 8am PT or finishing at 7pm CET
• Readiness to travel several times a year for company retreats and business events

Preferred Technical Skills

• Solid foundation in molecular and cellular biology (RNA biology is a plus)
• A deep understanding of lipid nanoparticle biology and biochemistry (e.g. lipid chemistries, LNP-cell interactions and distributions, methods to study LNP biology)
• Expertise in the characterization of nanoparticles (e.g. dynamic light scattering, size-exclusion chromatography, qRT-PCR) and stability studies
• Experience with in vivo systems and experimental study design

Compensation

$180K – $265K CAD + Bonus + Equity
