Kyverna is recruiting a Director, Infrastructure & Security in its Information Technology organization to help advance its mission to free patients from the siege of autoimmune disease. The ideal candidate will contribute to our goals of navigating what’s next in synthetic biology, immunology and cell engineering while living our core values: bring intellectual rigor, elevate each other, and stay true to why.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Maintenance of IT Infrastructure: Design, implement, and maintain the IT infrastructure including servers, networks, storage, and databases, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.
  • Cloud Management: Manage AWS infrastructure including EC2 instances, S3 storage, RDS databases, and other AWS services, optimizing resource utilization and cost-effectiveness.
  • Deployment and Configuration Management: Oversee the deployment and configuration of custom applications and services on AWS infrastructure, ensuring proper setup and integration with existing systems.
  • Monitoring and Alerting: Implement monitoring solutions to track the health, performance, and security of IT infrastructure and applications, and respond to alerts and incidents promptly.
  • Incident Management: Lead incident response and resolution efforts, identifying root causes, implementing fixes, and preventing recurrence of issues.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and business continuity in case of system failures or disasters.
  • Compliance and Security: Enforce security best practices and compliance requirements (e.g., GxP, HIPAA, GDPR) for IT infrastructure and applications, conducting regular audits and risk assessments.
  • User Support and Training: Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshoot issues, and deliver training programs to promote best practices and ensure effective utilization of IT resources.
  • Change Management: Manage changes to IT infrastructure and applications, following established change management processes to minimize disruptions and maintain system stability.
  • Vendor Management: Coordinate with third-party vendors and service providers to procure IT services, manage vendor relationships, and ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, operations, and security roles, preferably in a regulated industry such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare, or finance. Minimum of two (2) years of experience leading teams.
  • AWS Certification: Strong proficiency in AWS services and solutions, preferably holding AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator.
  • GxP Knowledge: Familiarity with GxP regulations and guidelines (e.g., FDA 21 CFR Part 11) governing the use of IT systems in regulated environments, and experience implementing compliance controls.
  • Security Expertise: Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices, including network security, access control, encryption, and vulnerability management. Experience with common security frameworks such as NIST, CIS18 or CISSP certification preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in system administration, scripting, and automation using tools like PowerShell, Python, or Ansible, and experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., CI/CD pipelines).
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions under pressure.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels, document processes, and effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, delegate tasks, and mentor junior staff members to achieve common goals.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to evolving business requirements, technologies, and industry regulations, and willingness to continuously learn and improve technical skills.

$237,000 - $256,000 a year

The salary range for candidates residing in California for this position is $237,000 USD to $256,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate of what we reasonably expect to pay for this posted position, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation geographic location, individual education, experience, tenure, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This position is also eligible for bonus, benefits, and participation in Company’s stock option plan.
