The Xpanse Zero Day Response team is expanding, and we’re looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer.

Xpanse helps protect some of the world’s most important organizations by finding risks on the Internet that no one else can find. Our product engineering teams are responsible for building the user-facing security products that allow customers to turn trillions of Internet data points into critical cybersecurity insights.

In this role, you will be an integral part of the group that enables customers to engage with their data through our APIs. You will build backend systems, select technology stacks, collaborate with other engineers, and own end-to-end delivery of customer-facing features. You will draw upon your experience to rapidly investigate and prototype new functionality then switch to implementation mode to deliver products. You will guide and mentor your team in enterprise software development, architecture development, and technology evaluation. You will represent your team in architecture roadmap planning sessions, working regularly with other engineers, architects, and product managers.

Your expertise will help define and secure the perimeters of the world's most important organizations.

Your Impact

As a Senior Staff Engineer on the Zero Day team, you will

• Design, build, and optimize Kubernetes-hosted web applications for maximum speed and scale, using a number of backend storage technologies, including MySQL and BigQuery
• Architect and implement scalable ETL and ELT processes to handle data ranging from gigabytes to petabytes in size
• Design and develop distributed streaming pipelines using Java multithreading and Apache Beam frameworks
• Design and optimize data storage and indexing solutions for both real-time streaming and batch processing applications
• Collaborate closely with product management teams to align efforts across the product and other engineers on your team to create designs to address these challenge areas and integrate new capabilities in the product
• Ensure your team delivers high output and mentor other engineers
• Continuously seek ways to make a substantial impact on your team and the broader engineering organization
• Help drive projects from requirements to complete design and implementation
• Anticipate challenges of architecting at scale, align architecture vision with strategic initiatives

Requirements

Your Experience

• Industry experience as a professional software engineer building customer-facing software for a SaaS business
• Experience providing technical leadership of teams building enterprise features on a multi-tenant SaaS platform at scale (examples - role-based access, SAML integrations, feature flag frameworks)
• Excitement to dig in, prototype, build, test, and see projects through to production - results driven, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to balance shipping new products and features with addressing technical debt and investments in architecture and infrastructure
• Solid understanding of various methods and tradeoffs for handling concurrency
• Strong familiarity with databases, data modeling, profiling, and performance optimization
• Experience with and opinions about API design and distributed backend systems
• Familiarity with Python and Java
• Knowledge of GCP is a plus but not required
