About the role:

Energy companies with hydrocarbon licenses in the UK face a complex regulatory environment, requiring stringent compliance for retention and reporting of subsurface data. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance by identifying, managing, preparing, and submitting subsurface data and information.

As the Subsurface Compliance Data Manager, you will enable better decision-making, minimize the risk of non-compliance, streamline data access, and drive cost savings.

Here's what the role looks like:

  • Monitoring and maintaining Well & Seismic data management services for clients with a focus on regulatory compliance.
  • Ensuring Information and Samples Retention and Reporting obligations are met.
  • Working across client databases, coordinating compliance improvement efforts, and creating and implementing Information and Samples Plans (ISPs).

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Subsurface Data Management.
  • In-depth knowledge of the UK Regulatory Framework related to Information and Samples.
  • Experience creating and implementing Information and Samples Plans.
  • Experience supporting licence rounds.
  • Familiarity with UK Energy Portal applications (PEARS, WONS, PETS, etc.).
  • Experience with the UK National Data Repository.
  • Knowledge of physical storage, digitisation, transcription, and retention schedules.
  • Understanding of corporate data governance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of subsurface data lifecycles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ideal but not Essential:

  • Data Management qualifications or certifications (e.g., CPDA, RGU PDM/EDM courses).
  • Experience as Information and Samples Coordinator (ISC), PON_9 Coordinator, Former CDA Council, Licence Coordinator, or similar roles.
  • Awareness of geospatial concepts.
  • Understanding of DPA/GDPR and corporate contract restrictions pertaining to data (e.g., SPEC/purchased data).
  • Experience with regulatory frameworks.
  • Appreciation for Business Analysis and Project Management pathways.
