Senior Cloud Data Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Cloud Data Engineer (GCP) to join us in Bradford.

This is hybrid working – 2 days in the office, 3 days remote.

As part of the continued growth and diversification of Liberty Shared Services (LSS), which acts as a centre of excellence with specialisms in Finance, Accounting, People and Legal, we are looking to hire into the new role of Senior Cloud Data Engineer, to support all GCP activity, including enhancements and development, across various OpCo brands, such as Virgin Media O2 and Atlas Edge.

As an ambitious Senior Cloud Data Engineer, you will fully utilise your experience as a dynamic and highly experienced GCP Developer. Reporting to the Director of Data Engineering, you will apply software engineer best practices (DevOps, CICD), SQL pipelines and optimization, whilst also being responsible for the maintenance of our bespoke data assets.

What will you be doing?

• You will own and lead the end-to-end data infrastructure, development, maintenance and upgrades across our Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring it is at the heart of our technology-led transformation, whilst remaining accessible and usable for other teams within Technology Solutions, including MI specialists, Analysts, Automation Specialists and Data Scientists.
• As the purpose of the platform is to create data products, which can then be monetised with clients, you will work closely with senior stakeholders and the wider Technology Solutions and Data Engineering teams, who will create and own the platform.
• You will apply software engineering, pipeline, optimisation, data asset and AI best practices, as well as support and develop a team of Data and Analytic Engineers.
• Creating the metrics on quality and ensuring appropriate QA processes are built to maximise data integrity and accuracy, you will also own and share continually updated documentation of all data structures and ETL/ELT processes.

We tend to look for people with:

• Proven experience as a Senior Cloud Data Engineer, Senior Cloud Data Developer, or similar.
• A strong background with GCP, ideally with exposure to DocAI and VertexAI.
• A background in transformation (DataForm / dbt).
• A strong understanding of DevOps practices (Github).
• Building and owning CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with microservices/APIs in bespoke data-focused applications.
• The ability to debug from logs.
