Software Engineer III

Position Summary...

Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales. Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities. Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans; using the Open Door Policy; and demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.

We are Leaders & learnings domain in Walmart EBS People tech. We work to provide world class learning experience to more than 2.1 M Walmart associates. Our People.AI strategy aims to empower our People business and associates by converting our people data, business processes and the knowledge and experience of our HR subject matter experts into search experiences, recommendations, outlier alerts and talent segmentations. People.AI is building a GenAI powered platform with multitude of services that will unlock the potential of Walmart’s products and to increase productivity and boost associate satisfaction This position is with the Software Engineering team of People.AI under the Enterprise Business Services – People Tech organisation. The objective of the People tech organisation is to build the best-in-class engineering, analytics and data science solutions that power the best experience for our people, adhering to the Walmart philosophy - Everyday Low Cost.

What you'll do:

• Design overall architecture of the web application.

• Collaborate with the rest of the engineering team to design and launch new features.

• Maintain code integrity and organisation.

• Understanding and implementation of security and data protection.

• Develop visually appealing front end website architecture, including translating designer mock-ups and wireframes into front-end code

• Develop functional databases, applications, and servers to support websites on the back end

• Develop and design RESTful (or GraphQL) services and APIs

• Ensure that non-functional requirements such as security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability are being considered when architecting solutions.

• Analyse documentation and technical specifications of any new application under development or consideration to determine its intended functionality.

• Ensure that testing activities allow applications to meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfil end-user requirements, and identify existing or potential issues

• Responsible for assessing bugs priority & severity, effectively communicate to stakeholders.

• Engage with Product Management and Business Teams across the globe to drive the agenda, understand priorities and lead towards delivering quality products.

What you'll bring:

• Experience with Full stack development taking solutions to production.

• Extensive experience with frontend frameworks/languages such as React, Redux, Node.JS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.

• React native knowledge will give preference.

• Experience tech leading projects and mentoring more junior engineers.

• Experience writing technical design documents to communicate implementation plans.

• Work on databases such as DB2, Azure SQL and PostgreSQL. Develop procedures, functions and queries required for data management

• Experience with Bootstrap, jQuery, and other frameworks

• Proficiency with fundamental front-end languages such as HTML, CSS(Foundation or Bootstrap), and JavaScript frameworks esp. React JS

• Strong knowledge of Linux, PHP and MySQL, with working understanding of MongoDB, PostgreSQL.

• Experience writing and maintaining unit tests and automated tests for web applications using Jest and Test cafe

• Experience implementing best practices and design patterns using Promises, RxJS, Observables, and Redux

• Experience working with graphic designers and converting designs to visual elements.

• Additional Qualifications:

• Good to have experience working with People/HR systems

• Familiarity with infrastructure as code, CICD and deployment best practices

• Familiarity with Bot development.

• Good working knowledge with GraphQL based API development.

• Experience working on projects following an Agile or similar process
