Job Description:

Broadcom in Prague is looking for an experienced mainframe software engineer with a history of programming to join our Open Mainframe team and work on the exciting open-source Zowe, part of the Open Mainframe Project and the Linux Foundation.

Our team's aim is to open the Mainframe platform and bring the latest technological trends in DevOps and API management to it. Our goal is to enable the Mainframe to form part of the hybrid cloud, leverage the open standards already in use in the industry and contribute its robustness to the modern enterprise computing environments.

We are looking for a passionate senior engineer who wants to make a change and be recognized across the industry by contributing to the open-source project and collaborating with a multi-company squad of engineers. **Competencies:

Plan, design, develop, test, deploy and maintain mainframe software systems, applications for software sustainability, enhancements, and new products. Hands on experience with the mainframe platform, knowledge of IBM’s z/OS and z/OSMF.

• **Knowledge: Having wide-ranging experience, use of professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
• **Job Complexity: Working on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercising judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Networking with key contacts outside their own area of expertise.
• **Experience: Typically a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience. Customer support and community management experience would be considered an advantage.

**Qualifications:

• Practical experience in working on complex software projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with the mainframe platform: IBM z/OS and z/OSMF
• Experience with one or more scripting or programming languages, e.g.: JavaScript, Python, C/C++
• Experience with mainframe automation and programming languages: e.g.: JCL, Metal C
• Experience with REST API web services implementation.
• Experience with CLI programming would be an advantage.
• Experience with open-source projects would be an advantage.xposure to Agile development methodologies.
• Knowledge of software design patterns, design-driven development, QA, CI/CD, DevOps.
• Skilled in providing technical guidance, mentoring, and inspiring software engineers.
• Excellent communication skills (must be fluent in English).
• Proactive and quick learner.
