We are in the middle of rolling out an updated tech strategy that has DevSecOps and cloud engineering at its centre. We are looking for an experienced, passionate and hands on Chapter Lead who will have AWS Engineers, Software/API Engineers reporting into you with complimentary skills such as Data Engineering sitting in other Chapters within HR Technology.

You will be responsible for design, deploy, innovate and run of our AWS footprint as HR looks to further leverage cloud infrastructure and services to innovate the employee experience and modernise our technology estate. Your expert knowledge of secure AWS infrastructure design, decoupled architecture and ability to work within a purely GitOps model will serve you well.

The HR Technology function works in an Agile methodology with our HR business to plan, prioritise and deliver on high value HR & technology objectives with key results that can be experienced by all of our employees.

As a Chapter Lead you will form part of the HR Tech leadership team. You’ll be providing expert advice relating to technology, solution design and architecture, people leadership and driving excellence in technical delivery as per group engineering practices and standards. You will bring a perfect blend of people management, technical expertise and will be responsible for shaping the evolution of technical squad through contribution to the technology strategy, quarterly crew memo, prioritise backlog, define delivery roadmap, and determine which problems to invest in solving.

• Can drive operational excellence and supports teams in charge of mission-critical production services with diverse stakeholders and complex dependencies.
• Encourages risk-taking and constructive challenge while growing diverse and inclusive teams.
• Established new ways of working, successfully advocated for new technology approaches, with the experience to understand the architectural integration of new software solutions.

Technical Skills:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;

• Experience with foundational AWS services (EC2, ECS, Cloud formation, Lambda, S3, Secrets Manager, KMS, IAM services etc.).
• Have a proven track record of leading high-performing engineering teams in a public cloud environment; AWS would be advantageous.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of API Gateway (Kong, AWS or similar) including design, implementation and support.
• Proficient in cloud infrastructure automation (CloudFormation, Terraform, Groovy, Jenkins etc.).
• Ability to engage with and communicate to stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
