The Role: Instructional Designer (Associate)

The Team:

The Enterprise Solutions business within S&P Global Market intelligence provides buy-side, sell-side, and corporate clients with industry-leading software, data and services. The business portfolio offers a broad range of product offerings covering enterprise data management, investment management, loans platforms, regulatory and compliance solutions, and private markets solutions.

The Impact:

An Instructional Designer for Enterprise Solutions will design and develop learning material for traditional, classroom-style training sessions and web-based courses. Content created should be both instructional and appealing for different target audiences; internal staff and customers.

On a daily basis you will collaborate with the Training and Product teams to not just create new content but also adapt existing course material to ensure the application of modern instructional design theories, practice and methods. Though this role focuses primarily on face-to-face and virtual experiences, there will be a requirement to create e-learning content such as ‘how-to’ videos, manuals, and procedure documents.

Responsibilities:

  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances learners retention and knowledge transfer
  • Work with subject matter experts cross functionally to identify target audience’s training needs
  • State instructional end goals and create content to match
  • Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts
  • Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods
  • Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc)
  • Recommend changes to existing courses, including technology or instructional methods, to better adhere to delivery options for the course
  • Maintain existing learning materials and update, as needed.
  • Upload and maintain online learning on our LMS.

What We’re Looking For:

Candidates must meet the following requirements in order to be considered for this role:

  • Proven working experience in instructional design and with instructional technology for 1 to 3 years.
  • In-depth knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design models
  • Lesson and curriculum planning skills
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio and video scripts
  • Experience of working with presentation tools such as MS Office 365, Articulate, and Camtasia.

Any or all of the following would be useful but not essential:

  • BS or MA degree in instructional design, educational technology, computer science or similar
  • Exposure to relational databases and SQL
  • Visual design skills (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator) and ability to storyboard
  • Experience of working in web-based collaborative authoring environments such as Confluence, other wikis, Google Docs, or Microsoft SharePoint
  • Basic HTML and Flash programming knowledge
  • Knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System
