Database Administrator

ING is looking for a passionate Database Administrator.

The opportunity

As a Database Administrator, you will contribute to FRIDA, the data warehouse for the Finance and Risk data on Azure, a ground-breaking project that brings significant value to our Finance and Risk users.

The team

You will be part of Data Ops department, a group of around 80 people that has the mission to deliver data to applications and make it easy and fast for consumption. We accomplish this combining state of the art software solutions with a keen understanding of the underlying business using the data we provide. We are proud of our craftmanship and always looking for innovative ways to improve our solutions.

Roles and responsibilities

• Database administration and monitoring.
• Design and implement database solutions on Azure, particularly Azure Cosmos DB for PostgreSQL.
• Design and implement database distribution and partition strategy.
• Support other teams in optimizing queries, and other database tuning tasks.
• Security and compliance.
• Database deployment and migration.
• Documentation and knowledge sharing.

You will be successful in this role if you recognize yourself in this profile:

• Bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience as a Database Administrator, specifically with Azure database technologies.
• Proven knowledge of Azure Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, Citus is a plus.
• Strong understanding of database administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Proficient in SQL scripting and query optimization.
• Proficient in database backup and recovery strategies.
• Proficient in database security concepts and best practices.
• Familiarity with data modeling, Data Vault is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Azure certifications, such as Azure Database Administrator Associate, or Azure Solutions Architect are a plus.
