ESG & CheckAhead Product Area Lead

As a service Tribe, Business Lending is responsible for all products, systems and customer journeys offered in Business Banking Netherlands. The tribe consists of three Product Areas (Online Lending & Products, Core Lending, ESG & CheckAhead) and the Center of Excellence Analytics & Safe Business to offer the high quality that our clients deserve.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a Product Area Lead for the ‘ESG & CheckAhead’ area. This area consists of 2 product teams dedicated to build and implement our Sustainable Finance products and journeys and ING CheckAhead (a new credit scoring product).

The Product Area Lead is responsible to set the vision (the why) and help the squads from his/her area to make it happen (the what). In this role you are able to design the proposition for Business Lending in the Dutch market and implement this strategy.

Key responsibilities of this role would be:

• design and delivery of strategic initiatives/thematic streams for both products
• ownership of the Business Lending ESG product development roadmap and delivery in line with the Terra for Growth value proposition
• timely implementation of regulations and policies in scope of Business Lending regarding ESG
• implementation & execution of strategic initiatives for ING CheckAhead product

You will play a key role to make sure that people from different cultures and origins can collaborate efficiently to reach this purpose.

Considering the complexity of the products/environment, we are looking for an out-of-the box thinker, able to identify the best levers to maximize the positive impacts for our clients while transforming structurally ING. Being a team player is a must since you will collaborate on day-to-day basis with the other members of the leadership team Business Lending and the Head of ESG BB NL to define the vision and guide your teams in its implementation. You will also be managing the relevant stakeholders inside and outside ING. The role comes with direct responsibility, exposure to all layers of the bank and all business lines, and, last but not least, an awesome team of professionals who are passionate about Sustainability. This role will double hat ‘Product Lead ESG’ role during the transition & growth period.

Putting Sustainability at the heart of everything we do

As part of the Horizon28 strategy BB NL defined the bold move Terra for Growth; BB NL’s sustainability program. For ING BB NL to claim leadership in the sustainable transition of the Dutch Economy, we need to get a grip on the CO2 emissions of our Lending book and guide and finance our customers’ sustainable transition.

Therefore we work on initiatives that help at first ING and our customers to get insights in the current CO2e emissions.Secondly to create products and journeys (including IT systems) for our clients to help them transition to a sustainable business. Next to that, we also cover risk in our team, where we want to make sure, we take ESG risk into account in our credit decisions, both from portfolio risk as well as commercial perspective.

ING CheckAhead is a new credit scoring product

We position ourselves as a credit scoring company that we have developed based on payment transaction data; that can give you a much more accurate picture of the creditworthiness of an SME than traditional credit scoring (based on public data/annual figures). It’s an end-to-end digital product that consists out of different building blocks:

• User portal for credit analysts (to create links and see reports and status overview of links shared)
• Customer journey for the SME to share data,
• Data aggregator to fetch and process data and
• Credit decision engines that process the data in a report.

With ING CheckAhead, we turned a cost center (Credit Decisioning model) into a profit Center

• Stimulate interaction between people, tribes, squads and stakeholders (within and outside your own Product Area and our Tribe)
• Create and maintain the new cross-cultural collaboration by creating awareness, respect & FUN

What is the ideal candidate?

ESG & CheckAhead Product Area Lead is an exciting position that requires a strong profile. Therefore, we are looking for a candidate with the following skills/experiences:

• Agile leadership to guide multidisciplinary scrum teams through change
• Strong background in IT change and delivery
• Proven track record in defining, building & implementing a vision
• Expertise in building an outstanding customer proposition
• Ability to simplify complex needs and drive operational excellence
• Owner of a Master’s degree
• Excellent level of English
• Affinity with Business Lending and ESG is a plus
