Business Controls Specialist

ING Australia are hiring a Business Controls Specialist! Reporting to Business Controls Office, this role will be responsible for supporting Retail teams in the design, testing and management of non financial risk controls aligned to business risks (operational ,regulatory and compliance) in line with the Risk Appetite Statement, Group Policies and Minimum Standards and regulatory obligations.8 This role forms an integral part of the Retail business 1st Line of Defence.

What You’ll Do

• Plan and manage the calendar of control testing for Retail, aligned to group timelines working with 1stLine teams in COO, IT, Business Support functions and 2ndLine
• Manage control testing activities to complete test plans-conducting both tests of control design and effectiveness as needed
• Manage data quality and QA activities across systems including development of best practice guidelines
• Provide guidance to teams on control design and test plan development and working with teams to identify control gaps and develop action plans to address
• Report, analysis and insights on control activities to support Retail business in effective identification and management of non financial risks
• Monitor and tracking actions related to control gaps and testing outcomes (Issues and Events) and ensuring timely actioning aligned to policy and procedure
• Work with Retail teams and 2ndLine of Defence teams (reporting to CRO) to drive improvements to processes, tools and systems used in management of non financial risk

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years experience in a Retail Banking environment
• Previous experience with operational risk concepts and frameworks(Issues/ Events/ Risk Assessments/ Control Design & Testing)
• Experience documenting processes and driving process improvement
• Understanding of regulatory and compliance regimes (AML/ KYC, Privacy, Banking Code of Practice, Responsible Lending etc.) Strong communication skills both written and oral
