Are you passionate about cloud services and infrastructure management? We are looking for someone who excels at leading teams and driving critical initiatives, we have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our dynamic IT department as the Head of Hosting and Cloud.

About the Role:

As the Head of Hosting and Cloud, you will be at the forefront of delivering innovative Cloud Services and managing our on-premise hosting infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include ensuring cloud services are user-friendly and accessible, implementing governance to adhere to standard methodologies in security, reliability, and compliance, and identifying cost-saving measures through effective FinOps disciplines.

You will drive automation using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and support smaller business projects that require cloud services, including requirements gathering, solution design, and organisational change.

Regular ‘well-architected’ reviews of our cloud environment will ensure alignment to standard processes. Additionally, you will be responsible for on-premise hosting infrastructure, ensuring service levels are met, and guide LGC’s storage and backup services across on-premise, Cloud, and SaaS platforms.

Cloud / Hosting Strategy:

• Define the longer-term Hosting/Cloud strategy for LGC, working with key IT and business collaborators to ensure our future strategy aligns with business needs and future technology opportunities.
• Help drive the longer-term strategy, including providing leadership to longer-term migration programs and smaller ‘application/service’ migrations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Matrix leads a small team of skilled engineers to ensure LGC’s current and future Hosting, Backup, and Cloud services are meeting business needs.
• Define and maintain the Cloud Service Catalogue.
• Establish cloud governance and architecture, including associated process design and implementation.
• Work with technical teams to identify appropriate technical solutions, including underpinning processes and services, to meet business needs.
• Develop team skills to enhance our ability to automate and better control cloud deployments.
• Lead Cloud FinOps services and help key business partners make well-informed decisions to reduce cloud operating costs.
• Matrix manage internal IT resources, business resources, and third-party suppliers to deliver projects, ensuring that these resources understand their responsibilities and work.
• Develop a detailed understanding of the LGC business and its technology landscape to help drive the longer-term cloud strategy, considering business strategy, technical debt, data residency and compliance requirements, costs, and business and IT skills.
• Work with our IT Outsource partner to ensure Hosting and Cloud services are delivered in alignment with expectations, SLAs, and critical metrics.
• Lead regular well-architected reviews, prioritizing and actioning identified improvement areas in a timely manner.

Requirements

• Tried ability to matrix organise small teams of engineers across various technologies.
• Demonstrable experience in delivering cloud adoption and awareness across complex businesses.
• Expertise in defining cloud governance policies, processes, and artifacts.
• Extensive experience in cloud computing, including migration, architecture, and security.
• Strong cloud strategy development and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in FinOps concepts and tools.
• Experience with AWS and Azure cloud services, IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
• Familiarity with Terraform is a plus.
• Experience in managing business change elements for IT projects.
• Excellent presentation skills, including slide creation, team presentations, meeting chairing, and action capturing.
• Collaborative approach, decision-making capability, and the ability to gain agreement from team members and colleagues.
• Understanding of project management and service delivery methodologies, such as Agile, ITIL, and Prince.
