The Level 3 Cloud Engineer, is a technical lead for new engagements and ongoing management within Managed Services, driving continuous improvement and developing well architecture frameworks to fulfil customer requirements along their transformation journey.

This successful applicant will join a team of talented Cloud Engineers, ensuring that all customer contracted obligations are achieved, driving continuous service improvement, developing and building on well architected frameworks and successful operational integrations.

Key Responsibilities:

Support Services:

  • Working to the ITIL based framework (incident, request and change and problem) to provide technical assistance to our customers. Clear and concise communication skill are critical.
  • Provide level 3 escalation path for 1st and second line engineers, ensuring tickets and requests achieve SLA.

Environment Management:

  • Working to the ITIL based framework (incident, request and change and problem) to provide technical assistance to our customers. Clear and concise communication skill are critical.
  • Provide level 3 escalation path for 1st and second line engineers, ensuring tickets and requests achieve SLA.
  • Reviewing, maintaining and managing the platforms that host Managed Services customers. This will include:
    • Monitoring Platforms (AWS CloudWatch)
    • Automation Platforms (AWS Cloud Formation, Lambda, Terraform)
    • Cloud Management Platform’s (Control Tower, Azure Lighthouse)
    • Experience of development pipeline technologies such as Jenkins, Git, GitHub, DevOps

Technical Leadership:

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance during the implementation phase, ensuring adherence to best practices and architectural standards.

Security and Compliance:

  • Work closely with security teams to implement or maintain robust security measures for cloud solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct security assessments and recommend improvements to enhance the overall security posture of cloud environments.

Infrastructure Deployment:

  • Deploy, configure, and manage infrastructure components, including Virtual Machines, Storage, Networking, and Identity
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform and Bicep templates for efficient and repeatable deployments.

Automation and Scripting:

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline repetitive tasks and ensure consistency in the deployment and management of resources.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate automation into the CI/CD pipeline.

Cost Optimisation:

  • Collaborate with the finance team to optimise cloud costs, identifying opportunities for efficiency and recommending cost-saving measures.

Documentation:

  • Create and maintain operational documentation for customer and technology platforms.
  • Create process documentation and Knowledge articles for team members to consume.

Self and Team Development:

  • Stay abreast of emerging cloud technologies and industry trends, incorporating them into the company's cloud strategy.
  • Mentor and coach colleagues to aid them to achieve technical excellence in their work.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in Public Cloud teams
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native development, infrastructure as code (IaC), and DevOps practices.
  • Hold or can attain Government managed security clearance levels. SC as a minimum

AWS Technical Skills:

  • AWS Associate (Solutions Architect/SysOps/Dev), plus either AWS Professional or Specialty certified.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Key AWS Skills required (2 Years Plus of the following):

  • AWS Compute (EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS, Workspaces)
  • AWS Networking/CD (VPC, R53, LB, VPN)
  • AWS Data (S3, EFB/EBS, Backup)
  • AWS Database (Aurora, RDS, Time Series DB (Timestream)
  • AWS CLI
  • Strong proficiency in Windows Server/Linux Distro’s.

Preferred Qualifications and skills:

  • Expert Certifications such as Azure Architect or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.
  • experience working as a deployment consultant or engineer.
  • Experience with hybrid and multi-cloud architectures.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
  • Previous experience in IT Managed Services.
