This role has been designed as ‘Hybrid’ with an expectation that you will work on average 2-3 days per week from an HPE office.

What you will do

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior VMWare Engineer (L3) to join our innovative IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of our VMWare infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security. This role requires in-depth knowledge of VMWare technologies, virtualization best practices, and the ability to lead complex infrastructure projects.

  • VMWare Infrastructure Management:
    • Design, install, configure, and manage VMWare vSphere environments.
    • Monitor and maintain virtual infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and availability.
    • Implement and manage vCenter, ESXi hosts, and virtual machines.
  • Performance Tuning and Optimization:
    • Conduct performance analysis and optimization of the virtual infrastructure.
    • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks at the hypervisor and VM levels.
    • Utilize VMWare tools such as vRealize Operations Manager to monitor and optimize performance.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery:
    • Develop and implement robust backup and disaster recovery strategies for virtual environments.
    • Ensure data integrity and availability through regular backups and replication.
  • Security Management:
    • Implement and manage security policies and procedures for VMWare environments.
    • Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Infrastructure Design and Development:
    • Collaborate with network, storage, and application teams to design and implement infrastructure solutions.
    • Plan and execute VMWare infrastructure upgrades and migrations.
  • Project Leadership:
    • Lead VMWare-related projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to best practices.
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and IT staff.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation of VMWare configurations, processes, and procedures.
    • Generate regular performance and capacity reports and present findings to management.

What you need to bring

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in VMWare engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior role.
    • Proven experience in the design, implementation, and management of large-scale VMWare environments.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expertise in VMWare vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi.
    • Proficiency in VMWare vSAN, NSX, and vRealize Suite.
    • Strong knowledge of virtualization best practices and performance tuning.
    • Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., PowerCLI, Python).
    • Familiarity with Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems.
    • Knowledge of cloud-based virtualization solutions (e.g., VMWare Cloud on AWS, Azure VMware Solution) is a plus.
    • *Experience in designing, deploying, and managing VMware-based virtualization and cloud infrastructure.
    • *Expert-level proficiency in VMware vSphere, VMware NSX, and VMware vSAN technologies.
    • *Document design, implementation, and troubleshooting procedures for VMware cloud solutions.
    • *Expert-level proficiency in Disaster recivery solutions like SRM, Metro CLuster, Streched CLuster etc.
    • *Expert-level proficiency in designing VMware environment based on Performance Requirement.
    • *Strong scripting and automation skills using tools such as PowerShell, Python, or VMware PowerCLI.
    • *Strong experience in Upgrading VMware components and tackling Issues during upgrades.
    • *Expert-level proficiency in designing customer Workload specs based on the requirements from application.
    • *Expert-level proficiency on Storage and network protocols supported by VMWare.
    • *Fundamental Knwoledge on Hardware, Network and Storage concepts is a must.
    • *Solid understanding of cloud computing principles and architectures, including private, public, and hybrid cloud models.
    • *Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex VMware issues and drive resolution.
    • *Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • *VMware certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) would be a plus.
    • *Experience with other cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is desirable.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong project management and organizational skills.
