About the role
As a Data Scientist I/II at Owkin, you will have the opportunity to work on high impact projects with our pharma partners and support the deployment of innovative methodologies to impact drug development . You will join our world-class Data Science team and will collaborate with Owkin’s scientists and external collaborators including academic researchers and pharmaceutical companies.
This is an opportunity to contribute to drug development and deliver new therapies to patients with cancer.
What you will be doing:
As a Data Scientist, you will :
- Analyse medical datasets using machine learning algorithms to derive new biomarkers related to treatment benefit and/or identify new therapeutic targets. This includes literature reviews and coding to test and benchmark new approaches.
- Work closely with other members of Owkin’s R&D and Medical teams with varied expertises (computational biologists, experts in medical imaging, federated learning, …) to deliver on projects.
- Participate in our internal R&D, improving Owkin's methodology.
- Publish research results in different academic venues and communicate research results internally through regular project reports.

And:
- Be passionate about the intersections of healthcare and AI.
- Have experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches.
- Graduate (MSc) or PhD in Mathematics/Computer Science-related field (machine learning, applied mathematics).
- Be Proficient in Python and/or R with demonstrated knowledge in use of ML software packages.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, fluent in English
Ways to Stand Out
The following are not necessarily required, but would be a plus:
- Work experience applying your knowledge in clinical research (e.g. in a pharmaceutical company or academic environment).
- Experience with single-cell and spatial omics data analysis.
- Prior experience mentoring other scientists.
