Senior Media Relations Manager

We are recruiting an experienced, dynamic and creative Senior Media Relations Manager in the Americas region, to be based in Houston or New York. You will work as part of the media relations team, under the broader marketing and communications department, responsible for creating and delivering strategies that enhance and protect brand awareness and support business growth. This role will be an integral part of a global communications team and collaborate across departments and geographies, with the primary focus on supporting awareness of Rystad Energy in the Americas.

Reporting to the Head of Media Relations, the ideal candidate will collaborate with relevant teams to write and distribute press releases, pitch reporters, train spokespeople, respond to media inquiries and enhance Rystad Energy’s presence within the media overall. A successful candidate will have a background in journalism, media relations, public relations or external communications.

Job Description

· Integral part of the global Rystad Energy media relations team

· Key regional media contact and conduit for Rystad Energy spokespeople

· Strengthen Rystad Energy media visibility globally in line with the commercial strategy

· Support the development of an effective, business-wide media strategy

· Drive media campaigns, including corporate and research-based press materials, news releases, editorials, articles, interviews and related communications

· Execute media activities through web, print, TV, radio and events

· Assist with reporter data requests, data skills and knowledge of dashboards and databases are an advantage

· Find creative paths to deliver Rystad Energy messages to identified stakeholders

· Proactively pitch news, feature stories and editorials

· Conduct media training with analysts and spokespeople, and offer advice and feedback on media interactions on an ongoing basis

· Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors and publications

· Develop and maintain a solid understanding of the factors shaping the industry

· Coordinate responses to media inquiries and ensure an accurate representation of Rystad Energy in the media

· Respond to crisis communications events as needed

· Provide in-house guidance and advice on media relations and communications

· Some travel required

Job Requirements

· Bachelor/Master’s degree in a relevant subject, such as public relations, communications, journalism or marketing

· Proven 5-7 years of relevant work experience

· Established connections within the international energy news media is a strong plus

· Demonstrable track record of building relationships with journalists, producers, editors, etc.

· Track record of media relations, strategic communications, news mindset and content delivery

· Exceptional writing skills and a knowledge of how to write for the media

· Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment

· Experience working globally, across many time zones

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Knowledge of marketing automation software, graphic design software and/or programming is beneficial

· Additional languages are a strong plus, including Spanish and Portuguese
