The Head of Distribution Technology will be responsible in defining the strategic vision and execution of Norther Trust Asset Management’s distribution technology capabilities. The successful candidate will be strong leader, innovator and creative force in the development of a comprehensive digital distribution technology strategy in order to deliver an innovative and industry-leading integrated client & digital experience solutions to deliver a superior investment experience.

This position is highly technical but also requires the business domain knowledge to work cross-functionally within a corporate environment to champion ideas and drive change. We are looking for a hands-on, results-oriented visionary who is passionate about the intersection of technology, digital, data and new business development that can lead innovation to connect with our clients through multi-channel capabilities.

The Head of Distribution Technology manages and coordinates the activities of the distribution technology team and is responsible for the team’s key deliverables. This involves strong leadership and communication skills as well as strong technical skills. This role works collaboratively with senior leaders across all distribution channels to identify the technology needed to deliver business value.

Key focus responsibilities include:

  • Partner with the Marketing and Sales organization to define and execute a roadmap for digital success, aka a sales and marketing digital ecosystem, identifying and implementing initiatives that will be impactful to drive business results.
  • Leading multi-functional, transformational programs to regularly release value to customers and business partners across a diverse portfolio of modern cloud platforms
  • Develop and build a team to deliver a multi-channel expansion and redesign project – SEO, SEM, personalization, analytics, 3rd party data and platforms (Marketo, Salesforce, Hubspot, digital channels, etc.), UX, data visualization, and interactive tools.
  • Prior experience implementing and leveraging Salesforce and/or other niche CRM platforms (preferably at an asset manager).
  • Lead efforts in emerging technology discovery for sales enablement/insights. Experience working with Business Intelligence and Advanced Analytics teams to serve action data to users through Salesforce
  • Identify and/or envision opportunities and trends for advancement in FinTech to grow and improve engagement channels with our clients.
  • Experience with emerging technologies including, but not limited to, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and predictive analytics.
  • Working knowledge of integrating sales and marketing tools and workflow ecosystem
  • Strong technical understanding of data management / integration practices
  • Familiarity with Design Thinking practices and principles for leading engagements
  • Advocate Digital Operating models (e.g., Agile), understand the true meaning of MVP, and value speed and iteration to produce results quickly and efficiently.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 15+ years as a proven Distribution Technology Owner in a multinational Asset or Wealth management organization
  • Proven track record of successfully leading digital strategy and digital transformation for a major organization
  • Hands on strategic experience working with business leaders to proactively identify innovative solutions that meet business imperatives and provide competitive advantage
  • Deep understanding of the value of data, bringing it to life, and leveraging modern tools, platforms, AI, and cloud to deliver the best experience
  • Solid understanding of effective utilization of technology to improve collaboration
  • Consistent track record of strong leadership within a highly matrixed organization global team
  • Proven ability with verbal and written communications - with specific skill in creating and presenting presentations and other materials that translate technical information/solutions into easily understandable information
  • Experience creating and executing effective change management plans, leading others through transformational change
  • Consulting experience in the distribution and/or digital space preferred Experience leading Agile teams focused on MVP delivery required
  • Experience in successful sales and distribution Salesforce deployments and usage
  • Marketing automation experience entails hands on experience, lead scoring, sales insight
  • Experience with agile software development frameworks
  • Experience with product management
  • Ability to act as player-coach, as needed
  • Strive for excellence in business results, monitor progress of teams, and coach to excellence
  • Create a proactive mindset in how department meets its goals and works with others
  • Interact with senior management, influence decisions on strategies and negotiates and manages conflict to support change management
  • Be flexible and responsive to rapid change and manage situations accordingly
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with users, peers, business partners, and vendors alike
  • Demonstrated and successful experience in overseeing digital projects – managing vendors/agency, developing requirements, measuring results
  • Experience in helping to define, measure, and analyze ROI and KPIs – turning them into understandable, actionable insights

Salary Range:

$205,700 - $282,900

Salary range is an estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package, including retirement and pension plan contributions, health and welfare benefits, paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life insurance, and other wellbeing benefits.
