Summary

The Director of Commercial Validation is pivotal in steering and overseeing all validation activities within the commercial software engineering organization. This role ensures the robustness and comprehensiveness of validation processes across the entire suite of commercial products and ecosystem, including displays and peripherals. Key responsibilities include managing validation teams, budgets, and resources, while providing expert technical guidance to validation projects. The Director also fosters quality engagement with other business units and heads initiatives for continuous improvement in commercial validation practices. Strategic and tactical collaborations, including engagements with Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs), are also within the purview of this role, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and Execute Validation Strategy: Formulate and implement a comprehensive validation strategy that aligns with the company’s business objectives and product quality standards.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of testing professionals, fostering a culture of quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Experience, Functional and Integration Testing

  • User Experience Testing: Oversee the design and execution of user experience testing to ensure products meet or exceed customer expectations in usability, and performance.
  • Functional Testing: Direct the creation and execution of detailed functional test plans to ensure all product features work as intended across various configurations and environments.
  • Integration Testing: Supervise comprehensive integration testing to validate the seamless operation of hardware, software, and third-party components within the PC and notebook ecosystems.
  • Feedback: Work closely with the product management and development teams to integrate user feedback into the testing process and influence product design decisions.

Automation and Digitalization:

  • Automation Implementation: Lead the development and deployment of automated testing frameworks and tools to improve testing efficiency, coverage, and repeatability.
  • Digitalization Tools: Implement/Improve digital tools and platforms for test case management, execution tracking, and data analysis to streamline testing processes and enhance transparency.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaboration with R&D: Work closely with research and development teams to integrate validation processes throughout the product lifecycle, from design to post-launch.

Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Analytics and Reporting: Utilize data analytics to monitor testing outcomes, identify trends, and make informed decisions to enhance product quality.
  • KPI Management: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of validation processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in product validation, quality assurance, or a related field within the PC industry.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the PC manufacturing processes and systems, and the validation principles and methodologies.
  • Extensive experience with functional, integration and user experience testing.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, and the ability to work effectively with different levels of stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, and the ability to handle complex and challenging validation situations.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and quality-focused, and the ability to manage multiple validation projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated expertise in implementing test automation and digitalization tools.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills with a track record of building high-performing teams.
