If so, prepare to innovate, create, and inspire. The Scrum Master Exercises judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of both standard and complex techniques and procedures. Utilizes in-depth professional knowledge and acumen to develop models and procedures and monitor trends.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for scheduling, leading and facilitating effective agile team meetings
  • Drives continuous improvement by facilitating retrospectives and ensuring teams act on improvement items
  • Provides coaching to Team Members to ensure they demonstrate appropriate Agile behaviors and following Cigna-specific Agile practices
  • Builds high-performing teams
  • Protects the team and communicates risks (removes impediments/blockers)
  • Helps coordinate inter-team cooperation
  • Facilitates preparation and readiness for Agile ceremonies
  • Facilitates team progress towards the Iteration and Program Increment Goals
  • Supports team during estimation activities
  • Supports the Agile Product Owner
  • Understands key business objectives and strategy of the product, and can communicate this to the team
  • Helps track agile team metrics (inputs, outputs, and outcomes), and monitors these on an ongoing basis
  • Facilitates process of deciding which User Stories will be included in each iteration through understanding team’s velocity, capacity and story scope and size
  • Facilitates team working with Agile Product Owner to re-balance and re-prioritize work within an iteration
  • Protects Scrum team from distractions and interruptions by people outside the team
  • Understands technology roadmap and help team fit their work into this roadmap, where applicable
  • Provides visibility into progress by maintaining Jira, burndown charts, velocity analysis, etc.
  • Empowers and motivates the team to self-organize
  • Ensures the necessary tools are set up for the team (including software, collaboration tools, Jira, CI/CD, etc.)
  • Ensures that the team has established working agreements with relevant Operations team(s) on how software will be tested, deployed and operated, including who is accountable
  • Maintains accurate team rosters and ensuring team member data such as primary role, team affiliation and team allocations are accurate and up to date
  • Support a single agile team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Scrum Master Certification strongly preferred
  • SAFe Agilest Certification strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a scaled agile framework preferred
  • Minimum 2 Years of Agile Scrum Master experience preferred
  • Advanced presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business needs and execute on a business strategy
  • Deep understanding of Agile development processes and methodology
  • Sufficient understanding of technology/business to lead Scrum team and assist in overcoming roadblocks.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile principles and concepts
