Leonardo has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Engineering leader to join us as the Electronics Engineering Technology Unit (EETU) - People and Capability Lead (PCL) in the Radar and Advanced Targeting (RATS) and the Customer Support and Service Solutions (CS3)) Lines of Business (LoBs).
As a PCL, you play a key role in the success of our projects, by delivering the right resources, with the right capabilities, at the right time. You will form a core part of the Electronics Engineering Technology Units leadership team, both within the LoB and across the UK, playing a pivotal role in building strategies to retain and develop capabilities for Electronics Engineering. You will work with a wide variety of stakeholders across the business in a dynamic environment.

Key job responsibilities
As the Electronics Engineering PCL in RATS, you will be responsible for:

• Delivering credible, long term and enduring supply plans to allow projects to deliver to budget and schedule. A significant part of this is the provision of resources and capability to each of the business sectors and Integrated Project Teams (IPTs)
• Recruitment and retention activities (including early careers) to support the supply of Engineering capability to satisfy project needs
• Managing the Electronics interface to the Engineering Extended Enterprise activities as part of the supply strategy for RATS and CS3 (Edinburgh and Newcastle)
• Manage the strategic delivery of the EETU training plans to ensure all engineers have the opportunity to develop and grow their skills
• Understanding the current and future capability gaps, translating them into learning needs for the strategic training needs
• Responsible for the delivery of training associated with the discipline engineering tools plan for the site, supporting a common delivery approach across the UK.
• Creating the Electronics Integrated Business Plan, to support the needs of the RATS & CS3 (Edinburgh and Newcastle) Lines of Business
• Managing the functional budget in support of financial business targets
• Manage and control the EETU financial overheads in support of meeting agreed Utilisation targets.
• Delivering an effective Electronics communications plan
• Supporting and promoting process development and business improvement initiatives for Electronics engineering across the UK sites to increase efficiency and effectiveness
• Managing reward and recognition across the Electronics discipline
• Supporting the Head of Electronics Engineering and the Head of Engineering Capability in the management and development of the TU across the LoBs

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

Essential:
As a PCL, you will have proven leadership and decision-making skills in a high complexity, dynamic environment at a senior level.
You should have:
• The ability to lead and influence, and to interface with a variety of stakeholders; from engineers to VPs
• People management and development skills within a large, multi-skilled team
• Excellent communication skills for a variety of different stakeholders
• Experience in capability and/or process development, demonstrating the ability to innovate and implement change at scale

Desirable:
It would be nice, but not essential, if you had:
• Broad experience of a number of the lifecycle phases, combined with a good technical background in one or more engineering discipline
• Experience in the definition, estimation, monitoring and control of work packages using design review processes and associated milestones and KPIs
• Mentoring experience (either business or technical institution)
• Experience in negotiations with customers and/or suppliers
• Experience in related non-engineering functions
