The Role: Associate Director, Industrial Gases & Fertilizers segment, APAC
The Location: Beijing, China
The Role: S&P Global Commodity Insights are recruiting a number of exciting positions in petrochemicals. These roles are an opportunity to develop and grow a market research and consulting business, having direct impact on the bottom line as well as shaping the strategic growth of the future. We are currently seeking an Associate Director, Industrial Gases & Fertilizers, APAC subject matter expert.
What’s in it for you: This role will provide the candidate the opportunity to further deepen their knowledge base of the products plus extend their network and relationship with clients. It would also enable the subject matter expert to be seen as the thought leader in their area of focus.
Responsibilities: Become the recognized expert/”face of S&P” in your assigned areas of responsibility: Industrial Gases & Fertilziers – APAC
· Maintain and develop knowledge of the state of the market
· Industry dimensions: size of market, regional growth rates, trade patterns
· Keep abreast of price movements, underlying feedstock price movements, new capacity announcements and other industry news (S&P reports, multi-client reports (and other industry commentaries)
· Maintain knowledge of key players in each region. Market structure - main net buyers/sellers
· Understand process technologies and production economics
· Short- and long-term supply-demand, price and margin outlooks.
· Maintain a “state of the industry” presentations for use by yourself and other colleagues
· Thought leadership
· Develop client relationships.
· Assist Sales when needed for promoting S&P Global products.
· Develop and maintain a list of key market contacts
· Proactively visit for BD; share our industry outlook.
· Respond to client queries
· Support Expert Calls
· Speak at industry conferences
What We’re Looking For:
· BA/BS/Bachelor or MS in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Economics, Finance, Business or other numerate discipline preferred. Equivalent experience within the chemical industry also considered.
· 15+ years' experience in commodity markets, with 2+ years’ experience in data analytics. Previous experience analyzing petrochemical and plastics markets is a plus.
· Expert status in Microsoft office and advanced excel. Working knowledge of Power BI/Tableau, SQL and/or Python is a plus.
· Persistent, with a natural curiosity about chemical market fundamentals and technical details.
· Strong understanding of value chain pricing dynamics, including outright prices, spreads, margins and grade differentials.
· Displays well-rounded communication skills that implement good listening techniques, clear, concise writing style; and good verbal skills. The ability to communicate across a wide range of groups and personalities internally and externally. Public speaking experience is a plus.
· Works well in a global team environment, focusing on collaboration and adapting to the needs of a diverse team.
· Adept at managing multiple tasks and adhering to regular deadlines. Able to adjust priorities throughout the day.
· Mandarin and English Languages capability is a must. Other language skills will be an advantage. Candidate must be willing to travel, both domestically and internationally
