The Team:

The Market Intelligence Finance, Strategy and Operations team is over 150 professionals in multiple countries. This team of about 40 supports commercial, across all our products, including commission operations and partnership around design.

Responsibilities and Impact:

Are you a seasoned finance leader with a passion for driving revenue management, operational planning, and commercial finance strategy? Do you thrive in dynamic environments where you can make a significant impact on business outcomes? S&P Global Market Intelligence is seeking a Vice President of Commercial Finance to lead well over $4 billion of revenue. This pivotal role will involve leading a team of 40 which includes 20 people focused on commissions and will report directly to the CFO of Market Intelligence while partnering closely with the Chief Commercial Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, and Head of the Customer Growth Office.

  • Commercial & Business Partnership: Act as a strategic partner to the Chief Commercial Officer, providing financial insights and support to drive commercial success.
  • Operational Planning & Divisional Target Setting: Drive the operational planning process across multiple layers of the organization, ensuring accuracy and strategic alignment.
  • Set and manage divisional targets, incorporating different frequencies and levels of detail to meet business needs.
  • Revenue Management & Analysis: Develop and implement strategies for revenue management, ensuring the optimization of ACV (Annual Contract Value) and revenue growth.
  • Conduct in-depth revenue analysis to provide actionable insights and support strategic decision-making.
  • Evaluate business cases for Commercial, Marketing, and Sales Operations to determine optimal ROI and efficiencies for the cost.
  • Partner with Business Line Leads for over $1B of revenue and dynamic products
  • Commission Operations: Oversee commission operations, ensuring accurate calculation, tracking, and reporting of commissions. Partner to develop and refine commission structures to align with business objectives and drive sales performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial strategies with business goals.
  • Decision Support & Ad Hoc Reporting: Provide decision support to senior leadership through detailed financial analysis and reporting. Develop and deliver ad hoc reports and analysis to meet the evolving needs of the business.
  • Strategic Leadership: Report directly to the CFO of Market Intelligence, contributing to the overall strategic direction of the finance function. Play a key role in shaping and executing financial strategies that drive business growth and operational efficiency.
  • People Leadership: Coach and develop the team to their greatest potential, supporting the expansion of experiences to support internal mobility and overall career development. Ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering a culture of excellence and ensuring seamless collaboration and efficiency across all finance functions.
  • Progressive Tools & Technologies: Foster the use of advanced tools and platforms, such as Salesforce, Xactly, Anaplan, Alteryx, Tableau, and Oracle to drive financial operations and insights. Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $157,900 to $285,475. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field is required
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in finance, with a focus on revenue management, operational planning, and commercial finance.
  • Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • A strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or CPA/Chartered Accountant designation is preferred.
  • Experience in the Financial Services industry is a plus.
  • Demonstration of results through transformation and efficiency in finance through cutting-edge approaches.
