ABOUT HEALTHFORCE

Welcome to Healthforce. We're a health tech company with a big dream: to lower the cost of quality care and improve health outcomes in Africa. We're not saying we're the whole solution, but with our blend of tech and human touch, we're proud to be playing our part.

We've rolled out a couple of digital products. The first is one that empowers clinic-based nurses to manage their practices, better serve patients and connect instantly with telemedicine doctors. This product has materially lowered the cost of access, bringing more efficient care to 4 million consultations in 500 clinic rooms across South Africa. We've also launched the Kena Health smartphone app, that offers purely virtual medical and mental health services. With a stellar 4.8⭐️ rating and the title of number one healthcare app in the Google Play store and MTN App of the Year 2023, Kena Health is providing access to quality services at a fraction of the cost of a local doctor.

We're excited to be a part of South Africa's health tech revolution. Along with our key partners and investors, we've got plans to focus our efforts even more around system change.

THE ROLE

Healthforce is a lean, low-ego, highly skilled team of multidisciplinary experts, including healthcare, product, engineering, analytics, organisational development and training. We are relentlessly focused on our customers, starting with their needs and working as a team to deliver from there. We promise to make it easy for them, provide care patients love, and be the best value in town. Our team makes use of modern product development and delivery tools and practices.

As Technical Lead, you will join an exciting new product team of product, engineering and other multi-disciplinary team members within Healthforce. As the engineering team’s Technical Lead, you will champion the delivery of ingenious solutions to business problems using the latest technologies. You will also champion best practices in the SDLC process and mentor other engineers.

Your work will include evaluating business requirements, performing end-to-end technical impact assessments on upstream and downstream systems and processes, and recommending appropriate technical solutions.

Collaboration. You will participate in all phases of the discovery, development and maintenance life cycle of your own Tribe. You will also work closely with other engineers, product managers, business analysts, product designers and various other stakeholders across the organisation to understand the problem and provide insightful input on designing the best technical software solution for your Tribe and for other product Tribes. This is all to align all technical work across Healthforce to the organisation’s overall strategy.

Engineering leadership. You will onboard and mentor other engineers, participate in code reviews and provide feedback on performance. You will work with the team to find and evaluate suitable candidates to join Healthforce. As a technical expert, you will become a subject matter expert on our ecosystem and platform. You will also work across teams to align goals, and prioritise and refine requirements. Additionally, you will actively work with your team to remove blockers, provide guidance and facilitate finding solutions.

Continuous improvement. You will advocate for and introduce improvements to our development, testing, continuous integration, automation and architecture. This will include performing R&D and improving the engineering team’s coding best practices and processes. You will actively work with the team to identify risks, improvements and advancing existing code through cutting-edge solutions to bolster product performance and maintain a well-architected stack.

Support deployed applications. You will monitor the performance of the application and assist with support queries.

CULTURE FIT

Healthforce’s culture is central to how we do things. Specifically we expect the following from each other: truly value people inside and outside the organisation, create better ways to serve our customer, be relentlessly curious, and pull together with the whole team.
