Engineering Operations Manager

The Engineering function at the GSK Ware site is responsible for the leadership of technical expertise to support the manufacturing, automation, and controls systems for all production operations to ensure safety, quality and production targets are achieved. We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our team at the site at Ware.

Reporting into the Utilities & Facilities Director at the Ware Site, you will be a member of the Engineering Leadership team, accountable for providing leadership to an engineering team of circa 20 people.

Key Responsibilities:

• Management and Leadership of the engineering team aligned to site Utilities & Facilities to deliver Safety, Quality, Compliance, Performance and Culture Objectives (for Engineering and Site Strategy).
• Ensuring team skills are maintained and developed to maintain and improve capacity and capability, including effective coaching of the team.
• Ensuring minor capital projects which are managed by your team meet agreed level of quality, cost and time, support planning and prioritization of capital investment through input into the development of site capital plan and site facility plan applicable to area of operation.
• Developing and maintaining good working relationships with external specialist companies, internal technical authorities and global platform specialists engaged to deliver projects, improvements or provide support services.

About You:

This role would suit a motivated person who has strong experience of leading an engineering team, preferably within GMP or highly regulated manufacturing-based environment. As a professional engineer (Chartered or working towards chartered status), you will have a strong track-record of delivery in engineering technical or leadership positions. You will be required to demonstrate an ability to understand and translate strategy, engage and empower the team to deliver the business ambition. You will be focused on providing solutions and continuous improvement.

About Ware Manufacturing Site:

Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form. The site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company’s pipeline of new medicines in these dose forms, many of which are life saving medicines. A series of investments in new state-of-the-art equipment are being made that will support delivery of a record number of new products.

Basic Qualifications:

• Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience within an engineering / manufacturing context (ideally within utilities, facilities or building services).
• Demonstrates understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP)
