JR57954 Functional Safety Engineer

The Functional Safety Engineer will become an integral part of the Functional Safety Office within the EBU, actively contributing to Micron’s leading role in the Automotive and Industrial sectors through cross-departmental Functional Safety efforts. This individual will oversee technical activities aimed at ensuring Micron’s NVM products meet international Functional Safety standards, such as ISO 26262, and will be directly involved in the creation of various work products for flagship projects.

Responsibilities and Tasks will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Cover the Functional Safety Manager role for NVM products, coordinating technical teams and supervise related activities
  • Collaborate with Development teams for the definition of the safety architecture and collaterals (i.e. SEooC, TSC)
  • Participate to formal reviews of the technical content of multiple safety artifacts
  • Contribute to define, adjust and maintain processes and templates for safety standard compliance
  • Pipe-clean activity on specific artifacts, driving the technical preparation on leading projects
  • Contribute to the introduction of new Functional Safety related standards by tailoring them for Micron context (i.e 3rd edition of ISO 26262, IEC 61508, …)
  • Contribute to create training material and development of educational programs at Company level
  • Evaluate how AI can help in documentation management and customer support collaterals delivering
  • Collaborate with Product Line Manager to provide requirements for the Product Roadmap definition
  • Participate as a subject matter expert in external and internal audits and assessments for FuSa collateral for both development process and design ID specific content

Preferred Experience:

  • Semiconductor experience (Design/PE/Qual)
  • Nonvolatile memory knowledge
  • System-level knowledge is a plus (auto/industrial)
  • Experience with requirements management and traceability tools (i.e. Jama, Doors, Polarion…)
  • Functional safety ISO 26262 and/or IEC 61508 basic knowledge
  • Program Management basic and tools knowledge
  • Configuration Management basics
  • Passion for Functional Safety values
  • Attention to details (rigorous and precise)
  • Very effective in communication and presentation/documentation
  • MS Office applications (including scripting/formulas)

Education:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent in a technical field; job title is scalable depending on candidate’s background
  • 3+ Years of relevant work experience
