Position Summary:

The Director of Global Revenue Accounting leads our global revenue accounting and accounts receivables teams and is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of both revenue and direct costs of revenue, including the monthly accrual and close process. In addition, this position plays a critical role in the analysis of revenue and margins and works closely with the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team to support their annual and recurring forecast process. To complete the revenue process, this role will also oversee the accounts receivables process for the company. The roles reporting to this leader include two Revenue Accountants, Senior Manager of Accounting Reporting and Analytics and a Senior Manager of Accounts Receivable. The ideal candidate will have experience working in and leading complex revenue recognition processes in an international environment with a proven understanding of US GAAP (ASC 606). Experience with Oracle Fusion ERP and Tableau is highly desirable. In addition, they will possess strong organizational, communication and management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Reporting to the Corporate Controller. You will lead the global revenue accounting team (six team members) and the accounts receivable team (six team members), ensuring consistent application of revenue recognition standards across all regions. Overseeing the end to end global processes for revenues, direct costs and receivables, driving accuracy, data quality and efficiency across the revenue cycle.
  • Procedure Development: Develop, implement, and maintain revenue recognition and accounts receivable policies and procedures in accordance with US GAAP. This includes systems process documentation, and implementation of new products, and ensuring appropriate revenue accounting standards under ASC606, ASC 808, and other applicable standards.
  • System Expertise: Run the end-to-end revenue accounting processes on Oracle Fusion ERP to enhance the revenue accounting and accounts receivables process, identify and implement automation opportunities, and ensure accurate reporting. Experience with Tableau will be beneficial.
  • Monthly Quarterly Close: Financial close related to revenue and costs, reconciliations, analytics, internal controls and compliance, audits and associated operational activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Global Collaboration: Collaborate with international finance teams to ensure consistency in revenue accounting and accounts receivable practices.
  • Analysis: Lead efforts to transform the current Revenue Operations and team toward use of the platform data and enhanced revenue analysis. Analyze revenue trends, variances, and anomalies, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Accounts Receivable Management: Manage the global order to cash process by directing the accounts receivable team to ensure timely and accurate invoicing, credit, cash application, and collections, reducing Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
  • Training/Development: Implement tools/processes, build effective reconciliation and reporting dashboards, improve data quality, process efficiency and up-level the skills of the Revenue Accounting and Accounts Receivables teams. Train and mentor the teams on best practices.
  • Audit &Compliance: Incorporate new products, including testing and, updating SOX controls and narratives and ensuring the appropriate accounting framework is in place to determine the right accounting model for upcoming products. Coordinate with internal and external auditors for revenue-related inquiries, ensuring compliance with SOX and other regulatory requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives for process improvement, automation, and operational excellence in the revenue accounting space. You will help guide both the business and process to bring best practice to our high-volume e-commerce processing and reporting.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with Sales, Legal, and Operations teams to understand contracts, ensuring proper revenue recognition treatment. This position will directly support the sales team to establish the revenue recognition policies as well as revenue accounting processes to support new products or changes to go to market strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master’s or CPA is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in revenue accounting and accounts receivable, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Deep understanding of ASC 606, IFRS 15, and other relevant revenue recognition standards.
  • Proven experience with SalesForce and a strong understanding of ERP revenue modules.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely document and effectively communicate complex accounting and reporting issues to finance and non-finance personnel.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, multi-task efficiently and manage individuals.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to explain complex revenue concepts to non-finance professionals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience working in a global company and understanding the nuances of different regional revenue recognition practices.
