JOB DESCRIPTION: Finance and Accounting Officer (Contract)
Impact Media is seeking a diligent and knowledgeable Finance and Accounting Officer for a project-based contract role! This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in financial management, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for applying their skills to support mission-driven projects.
As a Finance and Accounting Officer, you will manage our financial operations on a project basis, ensuring accuracy in our financial records and providing strategic insights to support our leadership team. In this role, you will oversee the financial activities related to specific projects and work closely with our Chief of Staff and CPA to maintain financial health and compliance.
Responsibilities:
QuickBooks Management:
General:
- Categorize and reconcile transactions to ensure accuracy.
- Review and correct any errors in transaction entries within QuickBooks Online.
- Conduct a comprehensive review and reorganization of QuickBooks for efficiency.
Weekly:
- Review and categorize expenses.
- Troubleshoot any QuickBooks-related issues.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
- Ensure all entries are up-to-date and correctly categorized.
Monthly:
- Reconcile all accounts.
- Inspect salaries and wages.
- Conduct meetings with Senior Leadership to update them on the status of accounts.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly budget reports and variance analyses.
Quarterly:
- Track quarterly income to account for potential tax changes.
- Collaborate with our CPA on any necessary changes.
- Prepare quarterly financial reports for review by the leadership team.
Financial Projections and Analysis:
Weekly:
- Update financial worksheets to ensure all figures are current.
- Work with the CEO to provide accurate financial projections based on requests.
- Analyze financial data and create projections based on different inputs from the leadership team.
Monthly:
- Provide monthly financial forecasts and cash flow projections.
- Develop and present financial models to support decision-making processes.
Quarterly:
- Prepare and present quarterly financial outlooks and growth projections.
- Identify and analyze financial trends to support strategic planning.
Financial Oversight and Optimization:
General:
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying discrepancies, potential savings, and opportunities for additional revenue.
- Provide insights and recommendations for cost control and revenue enhancement.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
Weekly:
- Conduct regular audits to ensure financial integrity and accuracy.
- Identify and address any discrepancies in financial records promptly.
Monthly:
- Review and optimize expense management processes.
- Suggest improvements in financial operations to enhance efficiency.
Quarterly:
- Assess the financial impact of business decisions and strategies.
- Collaborate with department heads to optimize budget allocations and financial planning.
Requirements
- Intimate knowledge of QuickBooks Online.
- Proven experience in financial management.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with Rippling and Rippling PEO.
The nitty-gritty:
Time commitment: Part-time (estimated 12-20 hours per week)
- More of a time commitment at the outset.
- On the lower end of the range as time goes on.
Position length: Contract (3 months, with the potential to extend)
Compensation: $37 - $42.50 per hour
Work environment: Remote
