Are you ready to join a very experienced, talented and growing Transmission & Distribution practice, as Associate Director - Offshore Wind Grid (OSW) Connections Lead, UK & Ireland and develop your skills on transformational work which will make a huge impact towards delivering the energy transition?

Your primary objective in this role is to lead the development and delivery of OSW activities.

You’ll be entrusted to provide technical expertise into proposals and projects and to represent the company in client meetings as appropriate.

  • Site and FAT visits
  • OEM Support Services
  • Due Diligence
  • Technical expert services
  • Some original design may also be involved

You will lead and develop the OSW team and may have line management responsibility for those staff.

You will liaise with other teams internal and external to AECOM’s T&D practice including, but not limited to, the HVDC, Civils, Cable and P&C teams. You shall work closely with these teams to offer our clients a full end to end service.

Requirements

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?

Here’s what we’re looking for:

Qualifications:

  • Professionally qualified in an electrical engineering, power engineering or equivalent subject at HNC, HND, degree and/or masters (or equivalent) level.
  • Chartered (CEng) or working towards gaining Chartership with a relevant institution.

Technical and industry expertise:

  • Demonstrate a significant knowledge of OSW technology and projects along with a grounding in general power systems engineering.
  • Coordinate across project disciplines, external sub-contractors and remote offices such that technical risks are identified and mitigated, and all statutory and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Significant relevant experience in OSW in an engineering consultancy, typically at principal engineer, associate or associate director level (or equivalent).
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and requirements management
  • Understanding of functional characteristics of power systems and interactions between OSW installations and the UK electricity grid.
  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of OSW scheme design, project lifecycle and practical considerations associated with OSW projects.

Professional skills:

  • Ability to understand and communicate customer requirements, lead technical discussions with customers and develop client relationships.
  • Able to work to deadlines under pressure whilst maintaining the safety, quality and engineering integrity of the solution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; experienced in creating and presenting technical reports; and responding to clients’ technical questions.
