Why this role matters

The Salvation Army Youth Services offer an integrated suite of programs engaging with young people across Australia. Our services create intentional avenues for young people to explore opportunities, build support networks, and access, participate and contribute to their communities. Youth services provide a diverse range of programs which include housing and homelessness, driver training, education, employment and training, AOD support, social and community activities, specialist therapeutic responses and youth justice programs.

About the role

We are actively seeking a dedicated and values-driven Case Worker to join our team. As a vital member, you will provide comprehensive case management support to young individuals, empowering them through life and living skills assistance, impactful group work, and community engagement.

The Youth Support and Development Program aims to address the contributing factors that lead to disengagement from education, training or employment. Young people will be provided meaningful opportunities to develop the capabilities and competencies necessary for successful engagement in employment and training pathways and further develop their general life and social skills and connect to family, community and culture.

You will successfully

  • Provide support to young people in line with the Youth Services Model of care
  • Effectively build relationships with clients that encourages self-determination and participation
  • Develop case plans with clients and collaborate to address their needs and goals
  • Facilitate group work sessions that are designed to enhance the development of life and living skills
  • Assist clients to access support services and establish community support including referrals to specialised agencies
  • Provide 1:1 support to young people to connect with the community and development of independent living skills
  • Promote service user participation and evaluation through the implementation of client feedback opportunities
  • Provide after-hours support as rostered as required

This is a permanent part-time (30.4 hours per week) position, based in Port Augusta, SA. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Level 4 Award.

You will have

  • Ideally, you will have a Certificate IV in Youth Work, Social Services or Degree qualification in social work, welfare, community development or related field
  • Relevant experience in a social service environment
  • Relevant experience in facilitation of group work
  • A valid Employee Working with Children Check
  • Through Their Eyes (Reporting Abuse and Neglect) certificate
  • A current Drivers Licence
  • A First aid certificate
  • A willingness to undergo a National Police check
