Role overview:

To work as an integral member of the Hill in-house Technical Design Team. Assisting in preparing in-house working drawings packages and commenting on externally prepared information packages, and checking that these comply with the design intent of the agreed Contract Drawings and meet the requirements of the Sales Team, the Architectural Design Team, and Joint Venture Partners where appropriate. Assisting in preparing Standard House Type, Standard Component and Construction Details in line with agreed programme dates and agreed BIM processes and protocols.

Role Scope:

Liaising with external consultants and internal department members on individual projects

Required to direct Trainee members of technical design team on individual projects

Key Results Areas:

1. Design Quality
2. Adhere to Hill Design procedures and protocols.
3. Ensure that appropriate design standards are met, and champion good design on all projects.
4. Follow agreed CAD/BIM protocols and project filing systems
5. Assist in the preparation of, or comment on individual Project Working Drawings packages in line with Hill Technical procedures and in liaison with external consultants.

2. Design Risk Management

• Ensure that all Hill information(drawn or written) that is issued externally and internally is prepared to a professional standard, and in line with company protocols
• Ensure that HILL procedures are followed and ensure that all information produced is in line with HILL agreed protocols
• Be aware of Hill Health & Safety policies and procedures and responsibility in relation to CDM regulations
• Follow latest and appropriate design and technical legislation and policies

3. Programme Management

• Follow individual agreed project programmes and ensuring that projects progress in a timely manner.
• Liaise with external consultants to ensure all necessary working drawings supporting information is provided to suit the agreed programme and to an appropriate standard
• Assist in the preparation of Employers Requirements including Specifications to suit project Sales and Development aspirations, and Joint Venture Partner requirements, and key dates programme.
• Assist in ensuring that working drawings and construction materials meet specification, and sales and design requirements, and are signed off to suit both the sales and marketing, and construction programmes.

4. Financial

• Follow the Employers Requirements/Specification agreed on individual projects and ensure that all variations are agreed ahead of implementation (in order to ensure the correct balance between development costs and sales revenue is achieved)
• Assist in the preparation of Prepare working drawings packages to suit individual project budgets

5. People Management

• Support trainees and encourage/assist in their professional development.
• Work in partnership with other internal departments, and external consultants and organisations, and proactively drive positive communication and problem solving.
• Work proactively as part of the Technical Design Team
