ORE Catapult are recruiting a Future Skills Manager based at our Blyth location.

This position will support the Future Skills Lead, working closely with education and training providers as well as industry stakeholders, to develop a skills strategy and operating model that works at the local, regional and national levels, with clear responsibilities for ORE Catapult. The aim is to ensure at regional and sub regional level, we have a pipeline of talent at all education levels required to meet our ambitious net zero targets.

The role will be responsible for maximizing delivery of Future Skills initiatives as defined by the Future Skills strategy, contributing to the establishment and consolidation of ORE Catapult’s position as a thought leader and influencer on Future Skills with the Offshore Renewable sector. The role will have a key focus on consolidating ORE Catapult’s activities within the Workforce Foresighting initiative.

What will I do?

  • Ensuring key relationships are developed and maintained both internally and with relevant external bodies
  • Maintain and develop existing initiatives including but not limited to:
  • Cross-catapult Workforce Foresighting initiative (see below)
  • Energy Central Campus
  • OWIC – Investors in Talent Group
  • Energi Coast Skills
  • Green Skills project sponsored by NoTCA
  • Introducing business led initiatives to support growth in the energy sector
  • Establishing pathways to employment
  • Partnering with schools and the local community to enhance green skills participation
  • Supporting and promoting progression into green careers pathways
  • Actively engaging with local Universities to embed academic and applied research into the ecosystem
  • Leveraging access to ORE Catapults unique asset base
  • Providing advice and guidance on future skills initiatives required
  • Identifying new opportunities across this area and driving change through innovative solutions and creative thinking
  • Development of new operational models with regional reach
  • Coordination of teams for ad-hoc tasks as required
  • Where appropriate, analyse and interpret data, making decisions or providing insights and recommendations to the senior management team and key stakeholders
  • Support business development activities
  • Respectfully identify and drive continuous improvements within ORE Catapult and with external stakeholders
  • Prepare reports presentable to internal and external stakeholders as required
  • Lead on day-to-day decisions to help maximise ORE Catapults involvement in initiatives where possible
  • Champion best practice and where required
  • Project procurement support and mitigations

Specific Foresighting activities will include:

  • Delivery of the end to end Foresighting process, including:
  • Working with the Future Skills Lead and the Skills Foresighting Project Sponsor to select foresighting subjects during preparation phase.
  • Engaging with Technology, Business and Education experts within industry sectors selected for Foresighting projects to convene expert Foresighting groups
  • Preparing, hosting and leading structured Foresighting discussions and workshops involving a) Technologists b) Employers c) Educators
  • Applying developed Foresighting processes and tools with support from process experts at the Foresighting Hub within facilitated workshops
  • Leading analysis and evaluation of workshop outputs, supported by Foresighting Hub experts
  • Communicating, coordinating, and facilitating data collection and processing workshops with contributing participants.
  • Quality assuring (including verification and validation) of all workflow activities and deliverables
  • Overseeing the 'map and gap' analysis and recommendations of the related education and training provision
  • Reviewing if competency sets are served by the current education and training provision
  • Advising on the content needed to fill the gap between the current state and future state requirements
  • Creating and communicating project findings reports
  • Capturing and implementing lessons learnt and continuous improvement opportunities

What are we looking for?

  • Demonstrable credibility within industry
  • Prior experience of developing sustainable operational models
  • Ability to think strategically as well as an ability to make independent day-to-day decisions relating to initiatives
  • Ability to build effective working relationships, at all levels, both across the organisation and with external partners
  • Experience of working within or closely to the education sector, either college or university setting
  • Experience working in a multi-regional environment and of building regional solutions

Location

This role will be based in Blyth and therefore, the ideal candidate will live within commuting distance to this site.
