Head of Infrastructure Monitoring

The Head of the Infrastructure Monitoring Team is responsible for overseeing the monitoring and management of the organization’s IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and reliability. This role involves leading a team of monitoring specialists, implementing effective monitoring strategies, and coordinating with other IT and business units to support the organization's objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership and Management
  • Lead and manage the infrastructure team, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance evaluation.
  • Develop and implement infrastructure policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation within the team.
• Infrastructure Monitoring:
  • Oversee the deployment and management of monitoring tools and systems for servers, networks, applications, and other critical infrastructure components.
  • Ensure 24/7 monitoring of the IT infrastructure to detect and respond to performance issues, outages, and anomalies.
  • Implement and maintain dashboards and reporting mechanisms to provide real-time visibility into infrastructure health and performance.
• Incident and Problem Management
  • Manage the response to infrastructure incidents and performance issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on operations.
  • Develop and implement incident response plans and escalation procedures.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of recurring issues and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
• Performance and Reporting
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and generate regular reports on infrastructure performance, availability, and capacity.
  • Analyse trends and metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and other performance benchmarks.
• Collaboration and Communication
  • Coordinate with other IT and business units to support infrastructure-related projects and initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for infrastructure monitoring-related issues and inquiries.
  • Communicate infrastructure status, performance, and incidents to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
• Security and Compliance

  • Ensure the monitoring systems adhere to security best practices and regulatory requirements.

  • Work with the security team to implement and maintain infrastructure security measures.

  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits of the monitoring systems.

Experience

• 4+ years of experience in network operations, with at least 1 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Proven experience in managing a 24/7 monitoring environment.
• Strong background in network monitoring tools, protocols, and technologies.

• AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty (Networking expertise)
• AWS Certified Security – Specialty (Security expertise)

Working Conditions

• This role may require occasional after-hours work to address network incidents and emergencies.
• On-call availability may be required to ensure 24/7 network operations.
