Project Manager

As a Project Delivery Manager at Telefónica Tech you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of a wide-ranging set of technology projects to our biggest clients across UK&I, ensuring they are delivered in line with client need and the agreed quality outcomes. You will ensure delivery always follows outstanding project governance principles that supports an on time, on budget and to standard delivery. You will operate daily with Telefónica Tech clients and stakeholders to ensure collaborative progress and successful delivery. Through strong client relationships you will represent Telefónica Tech in our largest delivery environments daily. The Project Delivery Manager will be comfortable with data and interpretation of information from multiple sources. The creation of project plans, the day-to-day management of Risk and Issues, the tracking of Actions and the monitoring of progress, daily problem solving, the formal management of change will be customary to the Project Delivery Manager as he/she supports the implementation teams through delivery, whilst ensuring all organisational procedures are adhered to and the benefits are realised from the implementation of the technology.

The Successful Candidate will demonstrate, consistently, the following delivery traits:

  • An understanding of the Critical Success Factors for Project Delivery (beyond just the traditional measures: time, quality, budget), how to identify them in a dynamic IT environment and put plans in place to achieve success in your project.
  • The ability to lead the project, acting as the centre of gravity for multiple internal and external teams, including the client, across large scale project delivery.
  • An understanding how to consume, digest, use and disseminate information that will achieve progress.
  • Strong Business Analytical skill that supports management of the project workstream in flight. With constant reviews and deep dive on the detail of progress you will consistently seek to exploit opportunity that adds value to our clients, whilst ensuring that customer expectations are proactively managed and that any issues are addressed swiftly and with appropriate measures.
  • The ability to follow operational procedures and lead the process for Service Introduction on new Technologies that your projects are implementing.

As part of a large-scale team, the Project Delivery Manager will:

  • Lead from the front of their project consistently and without prompt.
  • Motivate and empower teams to progress against planned timelines, in a way that creates a positive, inclusive, and creative culture.
  • Understand the privilege to manage people as well as process and will put their team first whilst also seeking to develop themselves further.
  • Be ready to contribute to any problem-solving requirements that will enable progress on your workstreams – even outside of your area of expertise.
  • Build and maintain strong, constructive, and highly collaborative partnerships with your client POC and any third-party stakeholders required in your workstream.

In support of key Project Governance processes, you will reliably:

  • Manage change to your project scope formally, ensuring client expectation is well managed and that any impact caused by ad-hoc change is communicated across the Stakeholder group.
  • Create and maintain accurate Project Plans to support your workstreams, and ensure they are presented accurately for use and review by senior management.
  • Effectively manage Project Risks and Issues using organisational governance templates and procedures, escalating appropriately when necessary.
  • Schedule and host internal/stakeholder group meetings and working groups as necessary; ensuring all actions and decisions are captured and acted upon by the appropriate team(s) in the required time frames to support your Project delivery.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail by accurately reporting on your project progress; working directly with your line management and internal management stakeholders who have vested interest in your workstreams to ensure they are briefed on progress, timeline forecasts, budgetary impacts, present risks or open issues that could prevent success.

Requirements

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable success managing the delivery of technology-based projects using waterfall or agile methodologies.
  • Experience working with Infrastructure-based technology
  • A PRINCE2, APM, Agile or MSP Qualification.
  • Substantial and evidencable experience in managing and leading complex projects.
  • Proven experience in managing client relationships and managing external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with robust Project Governance principles.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and a natural ability to translate project progress into easily digestible reporting products.
  • A proven ability to lead teams by example, to empower people and to support individuals when needed.
  • A natural communicator, with clients and colleagues, capable of delivering formal presentations and acting as the lynch pin for information dissemination.
  • A team player first, capable of delivering results when situations are not ideal.
  • A highly flexible individual, with a willingness to travel to client sites.
  • Strong mental capacity and ability to manage multiple dual running projects at the same time.
  • A broad technology experience with a sound awareness of current technology trends.
