What You’ll Do

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cloud Cost Analyst to join our team. Amazon Web Services is our cloud provider and project launches can come with costs that balloon without proper oversight.

In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and identifying optimizations regarding cloud infrastructure costs within AWS. You will regularly interact with finance, and engineering teams to support efficient resource allocation and cost-effective cloud usage.

Our ideal candidate is interested in building their analytical skills and developing their knowledge of cloud services. With these learnings, the candidate should be able to spot opportunities for cost optimization while maintaining high performance and reliability.

An average day may look like:

Assisting various team leads and managers to analyze their cloud costs and identify trends, anomalies, and optimizations. Develop and maintain cost models to help management accurately forecast cloud spend and budget allocation. Building process and tools to help surface recommendations surrounding rightsiding of cloud resources. Work across many teams to help calculate things like ROI on projects and subscriber costs. Research industry trends and best practices surrounding tooling in this area and cloud pricing models in order to drive continuous improvement.

More important than individual items on a list, the stand-out candidate will have a track record of proactively identifying and solving problems. Having experience with analytic tools, cloud substrates, or cost management tools is all valuable; having all of the previous would be fantastic.

We are open to consider candidates with a wide range of backgrounds from computer science, engineering, finance, economics, and beyond. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and derive actionable insights is important, but you will also need to be able to convey the findings both verbally and in writing (text, presentations, etc). You will regularly have to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
