Concept to Design Solution Architect

The Concept to Design Solution Architect will drive integration design patterns and solutions between Aptiv’s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM – Siemens Teamcenter Unified) ecosystem and other internal Aptiv enterprise systems as per current and future business requirements. This individual will support large-scale transformation programs and upgrades within the Engineering PLM and CAD domains. In addition, this individual will also be responsible for technical application solutioning – aligned to Engineering IT strategy, roadmap, and solution delivery projects within the PLM area. This role will interface with Business leaders, IT program managers, portfolio planners and analysts providing a rich, diversified, and global work environment. A successful candidate will demonstrate a can-do attitude in a dynamic, global environment and bring with him/her a solid business-facing IT project delivery experience.

Responsibilities and duties:

Engineering Management:

• Key focus on application integration solutions for PLM and CAD domains that includes Teamcenter Unified, Enterprise, MCAD and ECAD,
• Analyze current legacy integrations (both homegrown and COTS) supporting BOM, BOP, Material, etc. and to develop high level design for transforming them into modern PLM technologies,
• Design and build integrations between Aptiv cloud hosted PLM and on-premises based ecosystems. Develop data exchange solutions and mechanisms between Aptiv and external systems that includes supplier environments,
• Initiate and deliver technology evaluations and recommendations, but also partner with the different IT and Business groups to understand how future IT trends can address design needs, Support the IT Project Delivery Team with Engineering application and technology direction to assure that current project choices are consistent and aligned to the 5-year Engineering roadmap,
• Assist in determining industry benchmarks, best practices, and appropriate costs for engineering services by leveraging knowledge of external institutions and suppliers. Ensure that these key industry standards, trends, and tools are factored into the Engineering service offerings and support initiative roadmaps as required,
• Support Technical Services to manage budget, actuals and forecast, to achieve the annual capital and expense spending targets,
• Support purchasing (Supply Chain Management) to align commercial contracts with PLM and CAD roadmap.

Strategy and Planning:

• Collaborate with enterprise, division, and business unit teams to develop solutions supporting an “integrated functional Engineering strategy and roadmap” for the stated functions.
• Ensure alignment of business requirements and functional design. Ensure manual processes are automated.

Portfolio Planning and Management:

• Support the top-down and bottom-up effort to create a business-IT aligned regional portfolio of IT initiatives with cost estimates and quantifiable business benefits.
• Provide timely input on prioritization of IT initiatives based on organizational needs/strategy, IT workload and budget.
• Work with Program, Project, and Organizational Change Managers during solution implementations.

Business Case Development:

• Create business cases for IT portfolio appropriation requests jointly with business leaders and business unit finance.
• Collaborate with globally located engineering technical leads and design SMEs to identify common engineering business requirements and translate and drive them into Solutions.
• Aid with gap assessment between design needs and engineering applications including but not restricted to PLM & CAD systems.

Domain knowledge:

• Strong proven experience in Siemens TeamCenter Unified & Enterprise, Siemens NX & Mentor Expedition.
• Working knowledge and experience in providing IT solutions within the Engineering Tower.

Solution Selection:

• Work in tandem with Business and other IT architects for design alignment, proving out POC, solution selection and validation, Rough Order of Magnitude estimation, leading Architecture Review Board presentations and for implementing reliable solutions as per Aptiv information technology principles and cybersecurity standards.
• Support the RFI, RFP, sourcing, negotiation of applicable enterprise engineering license agreements and contracts as required.

Reporting and Communications:

• Keep sponsors, business partners and IT stakeholders informed on progress of projects, production incidents, issues, risks, financials to ensure transparency, business input and collaborative decision making.

Operations Escalations:

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and with external partners for seamless implementations and to Manage operational escalations as needed with members of IT Operations team.
• Provide the oversight for resolution of escalated IT issues.

Your background:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the field of information technology, computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 10 year’s proven experience with Teamcenter Unified (10.x and above). Experience in Teamcenter Enterprise (9.x and above) or experience with Teamcenter Enterprise to Teamcenter Unified migrations is highly desired.
• Demonstrate in depth understanding of Teamcenter Enterprise and Teamcenter Unified Architecture as well as functional expertise with at least one MCAD (NX, Catia, Solid Works, AutoCAD, Creo, etc.) or one ECAD (Mentor Xpedition) integrations.
• Experience in one or more Teamcenter products, modules and capabilities that includes but not limited to Access Manager, ACL, Organization, Structure Manager, Product Configurator, BOM Management, Reporting & Analytics, Query Builder, Report Builder, Document Management, Change Manager, Workflow Designer, Projects, Classification, Visualization, Preferences Manager, Active Workspace, ERP integrations (any one of T4EA, T4S, etc.), non-CAD integrations, etc.
• Demonstrate experience in developing integrations between Teamcenter and enterprise applications leveraging web services and COTS middleware.
• Desired experience in developing integrations between Teamcenter and other applications such as DevOps, ALM, etc.
• Desired experience with microservices and reusable architecture design patterns.
• Desired understanding of Teamcenter Enterprise Data Model, coding, and scripting.
• Copes with challenges without having the total picture.
• Good analytical, evaluating, and problem-solving abilities. Exceptionally initiative taking, directed and able to work in a geographically dispersed team.
• Experience leading design and implementation of technology solutions, strategies, and technologies and experience in Automotive or Manufacturing industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven understanding of Teamcenter Unified tiered architecture, File Management System, Multi-site Collaboration, Site consolidation, BMIDE and data model build, hierarchy, dependency, and architecture.
• Demonstrate understanding of data migration processes utilizing COTS and custom-built utilities.
• Desired Knowledge of ITK (Teamcenter Integration Toolkit), C/C++, Perl, Java, Client-side customization, SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) services, BMIDE (Business Modeler IDE) configuration, Dispatcher configuration and customization, C#, Active Workspace customization, Custom Workflow Handlers, SOAP / REST standards, web services frameworks and protocols, message routing, data integration techniques, system interoperability and API management and XML and JSON.
• Desired knowledge of Windows Server (2012 and above) and RHEL (6.x and above).
• Demonstrate high level cloud knowledge with either AWS or Azure that includes an understanding of landing zone, scalability, resilience, high availability, disaster recovery, network architecture, IaaS, PaaS, Storage, Containers, DevOps, Database, and other cloud native / market offerings.
• Desired understanding of Cybersecurity regulations and compliance for data security and integrity, infrastructure and application security, risk and privacy assessments and security operations.
• Creation of IT strategy, roadmap, and standards documents.
