Department Overview
The Marketing Cloud Platform Department (MCPD) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager to lead our core ecosystem platforms. Our mission is to drive Rakuten’s marketing product strategy, execute product development, and ensure successful implementation. We empower Rakuten’s internal marketing teams by creating engaging, respectful, and cost-efficient marketing platforms that prioritize our customers. Leveraging the Rakuten Ecosystem, we offer comprehensive marketing solutions, including campaign management, multichannel communication, and personalization. As a team of over 150 experts across Japan, India, and Singapore, we pride ourselves on being a technology-driven organization that shares knowledge within the Rakuten Tech community.
Overall Position Details
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to serve as a key partner to the general manager, providing
comprehensive oversight and contributing significantly to the overall Rakuten’s marketing
success. We are looking for an energetic and talented generalist who can bring fresh perspectives and drive impactful results.
Your responsibilities will be as follows:
- Strategic Planning and Management: Develop and manage the department’s strategic objectives by establishing highly efficient processes for productivity improvement across product and project management, finance, HR, and organizational structure planning.
- Progress Reporting: Plan and manage the department’s progress reporting using OKRs and KPIs for executive-level reporting.
- Budget Management: Manage the budget for all service operations costs and act as the primary hub for inquiries from stakeholders.
- People Management: Coordinate headcount and people management within the department, working closely with Rakuten’s HR team on recruiting priorities and talent management process improvements.
- Stakeholder Communication: Design and professionally manage the preparation and follow-up of meetings to ensure smooth communication with internal and external
Mandatory Qualifications
- People management experience of teams with at leats two members (1 year +)
- Hands-on project management experience
- Hands-on experience with process improvement
- Proven ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organization, particularly with executive-level management
- An ability to implement best practices in meetings to achieve organizational goals and solve problems
- A strong business and technology acumen- a strong understanding of both, utilized to make informed decisions and engage in meaningful conversations with stakeholders
- Fluent English language skills
