General Description:

The Senior Commercial Director Germany will be responsible to maximize the performance of Beigene’s products in Germany, implementing the customer engagement strategy and being responsible for achieving defined sales targets within an agreed expense budget. A constant priority will be the development of her/his commercial team of as well regional field managers and their key account managers as well as the product managers within the customer engagement department.

This role needs to proactively recognize and address relevant systemic (e.g. health system structures, competitors, data gaps, diagnostic challenges, missing advocacy) and customer-related opportunities (e.g. therapeutic gaps, differentiation, economical attributes, clear messaging of patient- and physician-relevant benefits). The Commercial Director will oversee the generation of insights from the therapeutic field, and translate these insights into a comprehensive, cross-functional strategy. Further, he/she will support a clear positioning and an aligned communication approach, incl. messaging, in close collaboration between Commercial, Sales and Medical. He/she will ensure cross-functional team-work within Commercial, in alignment with the “One BeiGene” approach in order to leverage synergies between products and teams and to avoid silos. He/she will lead the development of tactics and tools for the field force to effectively address customer needs and become most appreciated contacts for HCPs and KOLs.

Munich Based:

Essential Functions of the job include performing and/or leading the following activities:

  • Definition, monitoring and delivering of/on sales goals and regular commercial analysis of our markets based on gathered insights based on input from Regional Field Managers
  • Developing, structuring and maintenance of a competent commercial field team in Germany, attracting and developing talent
  • Develop and lead execution of business strategy including conducting primary and secondary research relating to Market Access and Pricing of Pharmaceutical products, leading the approach to competitor intelligence.
  • Lead team to develop local cross-functional strategy and tactics to proactively address identified challenges/hurdles, collaborating with key customers and patient advocates to develop relevant content in line with strategic objectives.
  • Localise and implement the International / European strategy through various programs/channels (events, webinars, congresses, inbound, content syndication, direct mail, digital advertising etc.)
  • Lead marketing & sales team to identify & continuously evaluate target groups and unmet needs.
  • Lead of commercial team to establish relationships with KOLs, understanding the clinical/scientific details for commercial success.
  • Gain insights from market (HCPs, KOLs, patient groups) and identify therapeutic hurdles, opportunities, and trends.
  • Lead marketing and sales teams to develop an aligned messaging and communication plan,
  • Coach Product Managers to develop promotional and scientific materials.
  • Asset evaluation
  • Managing the overall solution development process for the commercial launch and success of new therapies, ensuring there is integration both within and across functions.
  • Foster cross-functional partnership & further strengthen relationships field force to understand their resource gaps and opportunities.
  • Secure execution of commercial training together with Product Managers
  • Building an image/brand and awareness for BeiGene and its products in the hemato- oncology market.
  • Lead team to establish strong relationships and future-oriented collaborations with key opinion leaders (KOL), study groups and key accounts.
  • Preparing the commercial market (customers, study groups etc.) for the approval of BeiGene’s products.
  • Lead team to implement marketing strategies for upcoming launches in the haemato-oncology market.
  • Ensure close collaboration of all teams and functions within Commercial to leverage all synergies between products/indications.
  • Lead close collaboration between Commercial Department, Medical and Market Access in the above activities.
  • Achievement of commercial goals and defined performance parameters.
  • Budget planning and monitoring.
  • Individual determination of developmental needs/strengths of her/his commercial team members and execution of individualized development programs, trainings and coaching.
  • Provide exceptional leadership, fostering an environment to drive high performance, engagement, accountability, empowerment, teamwork and behaviours fully consistent with the BeiGene values and culture.

Qualifications:

  • University undergraduate degree in science or business as a minimum; higher qualifications (MD, PhD, MBA) advantageous.
  • Minimum 8 years of experiences in pharmaceutical/Life Science industry
  • Leadership experience in multinational environment incl. P&L Responsibility
  • Significant project management experience
  • Track-record of successful customer/HCP/KOL interactions
  • Broad knowledge of therapeutic context (hematology, immunology, oncology or related field)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both in person and virtual
  • Scientific + solution-oriented mindset and capability to move and execute in a rapidly changing, ambiguous environment.
  • Experience in a field-based function is an asset.
  • Experience in launching orphan drugs is an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office required.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Demonstrated success in a small but fast growing, entrepreneurial commercial environment.
  • High capacity of social competence for teamwork, coaching & situational leadership
  • Drive results: demonstrates consistent execution on goals.

Education Required: University undergraduate degree in science or business as a minimum; higher qualifications (MD, PhD, MBA) advantageous.

Computer Skills: Standard Computer Skills required (MS Office)

Other Qualifications: Fluency in both verbal and written English and the country language; any other major European language of advantage

Travel: Approximately 40% of time
