The Role

SmartestEnergy Ltd (“Smartest”) is a global group of companies acting in Australia (AUS), United Kingdom (UK) and United States (US). All act as a B2B aggregator of renewable power, a trader of and then supplier of that power. All these markets are transitioning to a renewable future where the challenge of managing the hedged position to the delivered position is increasingly becoming a key business requirement for the future commercial success of the Company.

The Data Operations Analyst sits within the Portfolio Optimisation & Pricing Group (OPG), who are collectively responsible for the governance, pricing, management, execution, reconciliation and reporting of the UK portfolio’s energy position in the forward and spot energy markets as well as the management, pricing and reporting of the UK portfolio’s non-energy price risk.

The Data Operations Analyst will be primarily responsible for ensuring that data held within the ETRM system is accurate, up to date and consistent with other system and applications used across Smartest. In addition, the Data Operations Analyst will be assisting with the design and testing of process guides (runbooks) in order to standardise operational procedures, while also collaborating with the Trading IT team to implement the automation of manual tasks. The Data Operations Analyst will be required to provide additional support to OPG front office teams on an ad-hoc basis

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Deal Capture team to ensure that contract data is accurately inputted into the ETRM system.

• Co-ordinate process guides (runbooks) across multiple teams to ensure that contractual changes and terminations are accurately reflected in the ETRM system.

• Assist with the design and testing of new runbooks to standardise operational procedures and assist Trading IT team to implement the automation of manual tasks.

• Analyse and reconcile data across multiple systems and implement corrections where necessary.

• Assist the OPG front office teams by ensuring that customer consumption and generation forecasts are accurately captured and updated in the ETRM system.

• Support the volume forecasting team with daily operational system checks and ensure contract data in the forecasting platform is consistent with the ETRM system.

• Provide ad-hoc support to OPG front office teams where required.

Experience

• 1-2 years experience in a data analyst role is preferred but entry level candidates will also be considered

• Degree or higher degree educated in a subject with a strong numerical or analytical basis

• Proficient in data analysis, database management SQL and Microsoft Excel

• Knowledge of python is preferable

• An understanding of energy markets is preferable (not essential)

Hybrid working typically means 2 days in the office location listed on this advert and 3 days working at home each week. Some occasional travel to our other offices may be required.
