Job Summary

The Applications Systems Analyst II collaborates with campus partners to design, implement, support, maintain, and enhance applications. Documents functional requirements, analyzes requirements in the context of software and processes, develops and executes test plans, assists and documents business process improvement efforts and addresses production issues.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Designs, develops, supports, maintains and enhances business application systems.
  • Formulates and executes test scripts and performs detailed testing to ensure that the implemented software functions correctly.
  • Collaborates in software evaluation and enters moderate to complex software configurations to meet user needs.
  • Collaborates with technical, reporting, and application resources to analyze and resolve moderate to complex production issues. Provides input into possible solutions.
  • Maintains records, forms, and business application system configurations.
  • Develops new techniques and procedures to enhance university business application systems.
  • Reviews progress, evaluates results, recommends new processes, and promotes best practices.

**Other Duties:

  • Serves as essential personnel during emergency on campus.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

**Required Qualifications:

  • This position requires either seven years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Professional full-time experience in an information technology field.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service to organization partners.
  • Systems analysis and design experience.
  • Proficient in SQL and/or Oracle PL/SQL.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

**Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
  • Relational database experience, preferably using Oracle.
  • Experience writing simple queries in SQL.
  • Experience providing Level 1 technical support to end users.
  • Experience reading code and programming in one or more languages that might include PL/SQL, Java, C++ and shell scripting languages.
  • Prior experience working with Slate or other CRM systems, including familiarity with its features, modules, and best practices.
  • Experience with Web technologies to include HTML, XML, scripting and stylesheets.
  • Experience in Higher Education especially in the areas of advising or student success.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of interface construction.
  • Knowledge of operating systems such as Windows, Unix, and Linux.
  • General knowledge of programming and documentation procedures.
  • Knowledge of one or more appropriate computer languages.
  • Knowledge of relational databases such as Microsoft Access, SQL Server, or Oracle.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure.
  • Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and diverse demands are involved.
  • Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate data and results in a concise format.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively within a diverse community and willingness to contribute to a team effort.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments.
  • Ability to read code and program in a variety of languages that may include PL/SQL, Java, C ++, and shell scripting languages.
  • Ability to utilize web technologies that may include HTML, XML, scripting, and style sheets.
  • Ability to work in a technical support role, and to convey technical information to technical and non-technical users.
