Moneycare is The Salvation Army’s national financial counselling and financial capability program. It is one of the largest and long-running such programs in Australia. Our evidence-based outcomes measurement process shows that we have a real impact on the lives of the people who come to us seeking assistance through materially improved mental health, personal well-being and financial resilience, including financial hardship alleviation. Moneycare has a focus on holistic, strengths-based services that are professional, caring, and missional.

About the role

We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Financial Counsellor, to be based at negotiable/flexible locations within Adelaide. Reporting to the Moneycare Team Leader. This is a fixed term, full-time role until 30/6/2025. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 4 or 5 depending on candidate accreditation.

You will successfully

  • Ensure effective relationships are established with community members that encourage self-determination and participation
  • Take a collaborative approach in providing the best level of service to community members
  • Action the service delivery in accordance with TSA standards and procedures and the TSA Moneycare Practice Framework
  • Assess community member issues, needs and circumstances from initial contact to exit
  • Develop individual case plans in collaboration with community members and include a range of interventions that address their needs or goals
  • Implement case plans with active community member participation
  • Monitor progress and outcomes of individual case plans are regularly monitored and reviewed and where needed action is taken to ensure the plan continues to meet the relevant needs or goals

You will have (Requisite Skills & Qualifications)

  • Level 5, hold the Diploma of Community Services and are an accredited member of a state based recognised financial counselling association.
  • Level 4, hold a Diploma in Financial Counselling, and are working towards being an accredited member of a state based recognised financial counselling association.
  • Relevant experience in a social service environment and/or a good understanding of issues around the causes of financial hardship and financial exclusion.
