The Team:

The Ratings Site Reliability Engineering team (SRE) is made up of highly talented engineers and operations personnel. The current team is composed of highly skilled engineers with solid development background who build and manage tier-0 platforms in AWS cloud environments. In their role, they will play a pivotal part in shaping the platform architecture and engineering. Their additional tasks include, exploring new innovative tools that benefit the organization needs, developing services and tools around the Cloud platform, establishing standards, automation, creating reference implementations, and providing support for application integrations on need basis.

Responsibilities and Impact:

SRE is the foundational technology support team for the Ratings businesses. Focusing on application stability, availability, reliability, compliance, and governance help us provide the best possible client experience while upholding regulatory requirements. We help teams navigate new technologies and requirements and take them from conceptual idea to fully operationalized solutions.

Engineers in this role are expected to participate fully in the planning and implementation in a broad range of technical areas within cloud infrastructure. You are required to be well versed with AWS cloud related tools and also be able to work with Audit

  • Ensure stability, availability, reliability, compliance, and governance for Ratings cloud platform; troubleshoot and support with scrum teams when required.
  • Guide the operationalization of Cloud Platform and applications.
  • Develop new opportunities for automation and infrastructure usage; enhance and mature existing in regards to security, cost, repeatability, etc.
  • Support container environments (K8s), containerization of existing applications and feature upgrades for container platforms.
  • Exploratory work with Azure and other cloud providers. Learning new products, staying on top of cloud services.
  • Strong focus on developing robust cloud solutions meeting high-engineering standards.
  • Work with/support users to understand issues, develop root cause analysis and work with the SRE teams for the development/implementation of security enhancements/fixes.
  • Perform engineering solutions and contribute towards the following and other areas as needed: Platform, Cloud and Network reliability/engineering.
  • Configuring and administering AWS Shield (managed Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection service)
  • Configuring and administering AWS Control Tower, WAF (Web Application Firewalls), KMS (Key Management Service), Secrets Manager, Certificate Manager, etc.

Compensation/Benefits Information:

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $77,000 to $160,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

What we are looking for:

  • Candidates must have 5 or more years of current direct demonstrated cloud engineering experience, expertise, and in-depth knowledge; specifically, supporting AWS-based systems.
  • Strong background in automation. Jenkins, ADO, Ansible, Terraform, Python, and/or shell scripting.
  • Strong understanding of AWS. VPC and networking concepts, IAM usage and policies, security best practices, interfacing with API.
  • Experience designing and architecting solutions. Applying best practices to meet RPO/RTO while being cost effective and secure. Understanding non-functional requirements.
  • Experience with Kubernetes / containerized deployments.
  • Strong background with Linux based operating systems.
  • Expertise in technical and business environment, experience with cloud, to include: Linux, Microservices, Maven, Lambda, Active Directory, LDAP, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Amazon Inspector, Grafana, GuardDuty, Config, KMS, AWS Macie
  • Education:Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in AWS Cloud.
