Marketing Engineer - Back End

Pendo is looking to add an experienced backend engineer to our marketing engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to help build a best-in-class web and 1st party data platform to power both our marketing websites and our Mind the Product community.

Role Responsibilities

• Write maintainable, high-quality and reusable code
• Design, build and maintain REST APIs to enable user-facing features
• Work with WordPress to extend functionality through custom plugin development
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning and other team activities
• Suggest and implement creative solutions for bugs, issues or other tech challenges
• Continuously learn, implement and champion security and performance best practices
• Collaborate effectively with global cross-functional Marketing teams to plan and implement new features or projects that drive the business forward

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of professional software development experience with a strong knowledge of PHP
• Understanding of web application architecture, including APIs, HTTP requests, databases, caching, and related concepts
• Critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Familiarity with build tools, CI/CD and modern development workflows
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without need for future sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building scalable and secure REST APIs
• Experience using Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) tools (e.g. Doctrine)
• Experience with cloud based infrastructure (AWS / GCP / Azure)
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
• Familiarity with headless CMS concepts

Compensation

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide.

The expected salary range for this role to be performed in: Raleigh, NC is 63,000 - 78,800

Individual pay rate decisions, including offers made within and over the expected salary range, are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company.
